Good evening all,
Not been on for a while but have moved house, got more space and am really missing my wedge so time to put it back together, only one problem, has anyone any idea where these fit on a 350i? I stripped the car about 6 years ago and cannot for the life of me remember where I took them off.
Any help greatly appreciated, hopefully the picture will work.
Regards
Jon.

Do you have the steel roof struts? If so these might be the brackets for them.

Bigger mounting holes for the roof struts.

Excellent guys thanks for your help, for some reason I thought they were from the diff mounting area but couldn't figure out why they weren't on any of the photos I had taken.
Thanks again
Jon.

They are for the diff. - they secure the lower mountings of the diff to the Metalastiks at either side of the diff subframe.

Might take a bit of shenanigans to get the bolts in, in the right order.

Ahhh nice one, I am remaking the diff carrier, it is the main reason I didn't put the car on the road sooner. For some reason my wishbone mounts needed to be spread out to allow the original inner of the metalastik bushes to fit, unfortunately when I fitted poly bushes the top hat part of the bush was too wide to fit between the mounts, I bit the bullet and squeezed them in but they pretty much ripped to bits after a few hundred miles. I have had a quote to make some standard bushes at £18+VAT each for a minimum order of 20, in the end I though it may be easier and cheaper to remake the carrier making sure everything fits properly, fingers crossed it will work!
Thanks again
Jon

You should have said, I could have sorted you proper bonded bushes. The original ones are Imperial sizes and no longer available but I found a source of slightly larger ones and turned them down in the lathe to suit. They'd be less than £18 each too!

Afternoon wedg1e, it was actually your write up that prompted me to make a start. I am still contemplating which way to go, I found the original diff frame was cracked at the front wishbone mount so decided it was probably time to fabricate something, I had sort of planned to make the mounts slightly further apart so I could use a wider bush, I did initially turn some out of the black nylon 66 but was unsure how harsh they would be (probably crack something). So I still have a choice to fit the nylon ones, poly bushes or the standard type. What sort of price do the metalastik come in at? I have access to a lathe, but depending on length I would probably make the mounts to fit.
I always wanted standard but ended up fitting the poly because they were supposed to be better, there was nothing wrong with my originals Just thought I would take them out when I painted the wishbones, unfortunately after not too much time they were jiggered.
Regards
Jon

I had the same issue when I re-bushed my rear suspension. Read the article and even priced the bushes but ended up going with poly bushes on the whole thing.
I was afraid they would be to stiff but I'm very happy with the results.
