944 starter motor

My 944 S2 needs a new starter motor. Are there any aftermarket starter motors that are better then the standard product? Or should I just buy the original starter motor?

Is it worth buying a reconditioned part? (I don't think they'll be much cheaper than a new part.) Will a recon starter motor have as long a life as a new starter motor and will it do as good a job?
