Jewelry advice needed (valuations)

Hi all - was hoping that the PH collective could point me in the right direction here. A number of years ago I inherited a necklace in Indian gold with Burmese river rubies, which I am looking to get properly valued (maybe even sell - I do appreciate that there is a difference between a valuation price and a sale price)

the problem is that as I understand it that the 'Indian gold' bit makes it not particularly appealing to English tastes (both from a valuation perspective and a sales perspective) so would a valuation be better from a Indian jeweler or wouldn't it matter? Where would be a good place to sell a (relatively) high worth item?
