A6 C6 3.0TDi. Heat shield replacement.

The exhaust heat shield on our 2008 Le Mans is rattling and a quick look under the car shows that the areas around the bolts appears to have sheared off.

Is this a DIY fix job?

If so, where can I get the parts needed. A quick google doesn't seem to be bringing any up.

Also, I noticed that one post on a random forum mentions a specific size Torx bit, but it didn't go on to confirm it one way or another.

Anyone happen to know tha tnaswer to that?

Which shield? I can show you parts diagrams and specs for all the fittings.

I'd suggest buying a pack of repair washers and using those under the existing nuts that hold the shield on.

The ones I've done have all been a hex head nut-and-washer combo.

I'm not sure which it is exactly, but it's the off-side rear.

I'd have to have a proper look under the car, but it came up as an advisory on the MOT and you can hear it rattling as you drive.
