Which Oil for the Diff ?

The book specifies a 75/90 oil which doesn’t seem to be in the high street shops. However several 80/90 Semi Synthetic diff oils state on the label that they are OK for ALL differentials that specify 75/90. Some of the catalogue suppliers list 75/90+ specifically for LSD. What do we think, and what are you all using ? Is the 80/90 ok ?

the recommended type for mine is mobil 75(i think)-140id.i actually use red line 75w-250ep heavy shockproof.this is using the later btr diff,but the advice given to use the redline also applied to the salisbury unit.

I know it is an LSD and probably would benefit from LSD oil, my point is that as far as I can see the original spec Mobil oil is not specifically for LSD. Various dealers suggest different oils as the best choice. I will call the factory and see what they say and report back.

the redline i use isnt specifically lsd type.you dont HAVE to use it ie you wont harm your lsd if you dont use lsd oil ,however you will loose some or all the lsd ability depending on your choice.you dont loose all its ability with the redline-you keep roughly 60% of it apparently.the main thing i wanted was maximum shock and wear protection as i dont intend to track the car often if at all.im only interested in fast road use.i cant tell the difference scince i switched to the redline,even when pushing it as hard as i dare out of corners etc.

Three dealers say it Absolutely must be Mobil 80/140ID, and they all have it in stock but only in great big vats so supplying 2 Liters is a challenge, unless you turn up with a container (reminds me of buying slightly suspect scrumpy). One says normal 75/90 Diff oil is OK, another indicates Castrol SAFXJ75/140 can be used.

The Factory says the only way is to take the car to a dealer and they will change the oil.

I use Millers 80/140 BM Fully synthetic LSD....

A very kind man named Richard delivered it to my door in my hour of need on a Sunday

I used Castrol Hypoy LS90 LSD Oil from demon-tweeks.

Seems to still work. (tempting fate)
