Be warned! Its the first SPECS camera that i have heard of in my area, apart from the Limehouse Link tunnel.

A dual carriageway in the City has been unveiled as the country's most lucrative speed trap - making almost £4,000 a day in fines.

City of London Police figures revealed that in three weeks, the yellow cameras on Lower Thames Street accumulated £84,000.

An average of 70 drivers a day are being caught, giving the potential to collect almost £1.5 million this year alone.

The Specs system, the only one of its kind in London, measures a car's average speed through a designated stretch. It is designed to outwit those drivers who brake as they approach cameras then accelerate away.

In addition to the warning above, I would also advise caution when proceeding over Tower Bridge - 20 mph limit enforced by SPECS. I ride my motorbike in to work fairly early most mornings, and the traffic often flows at greater than 20 mph. It's like a sausage machine for cash generation.

I work on Lower Thames Street just before the restriction mentioned in the posting above and regularly see drivers slowing down for the camera and then speeding back up afterwards.

My office is 50yrds away from these cameras. I was surprised when I saw them go up as that road is always jammed and I thought you'd be lucky to go over 30mph ...but obviously not according to the numbers you've quoted!

I didn't think it was SPECS in the Limehouse link, rather they are just digital cameras rather than ones with normal camera film.

Hopefully, they are only temporary while the road is narrower during the building works.

you're probably right? I still feel a bit sorry for the people who amble along at a respectable 35-40 mph, not realising that they are going to get done! I get some very funny looks driving with cruise control on, set to exactly 30mph.

In the limehouse link it isn't specs, 3 seperate digital (i.e no film) cameras.
