wrong forum, best to post in GeneralGassing and add details like, budget, what distances you will be driving, other likes/wants in a car etc. The more detail the more help you'll get.

Oh my apologies you have posted under the car buying section, sorry for that.

But if you add as many details around your needs for a car I'm sure people will supply some suggestions.

if your a new driver it will all hinge on the cost of insurance.

I would think slightly outside the box however, as this can often reduce insurance costs:

It will usually cost less to insure a Toyota Yaris, Dacia Sandero, Honda Jazz or Suzuki Swift than a Vauxhall Corsa just due to the demographics that usually own them - play around on a comparison site (add parent(s)) as named drivers to bring down the cost if they have a clean driving record too.

My favorites in the sector having driven loads as hire cars are the Fiesta and Jazz - presume you'll need the 1.25 (60ps) Fiesta or 1.0 petrol yaris to minimise insurance but try some other variants on the off chance they're not too pricey - may be worth it as they are gutless (but fine day to day). If you want smaller the Seat Mii/VW Up and Skoda CityGo are better than the Aygo/C1/108 IMO and the three models are all based on the same floorplan so no differences other than spec/badge.
