Hi there
New to the forum, but not to the Geep which I have had since 1987.
Attempting to put her back on the road after a number of dormant years and find I need a little help!
Does anyone know of a cheap source of the Cibie Oscar headlamp? Cheapest I've found so far is around £67.
Also the windscreen has a failable crack in it. Is there a standard piece of glass from another vehicle that will fit? Any help on this would be appreciated!
Great to hear positive vibes about future of the club. I am planning to get the Geep up to Stoneleigh in May, so wish me luck and hopefully see some of you there!
All the best

Hi Peter - I am glad to see are you back with your GP. I replaced a windscreen for £30 by getting a mobile fitter to do the job. I presume it was pocket money for him. I dom't think it necessary has to be glass, mind you. Perhaps some of the forum boys may know more about this.

If you live anywhere near me (Suffolk/Essex) I can actually cut a windscreen for you out of 6.4mm laminate. I would prefer to have the old one as a template. I have to do one for myself before May `cos mine is de-laminating (going cloudy) due to some complete knob putting glass cleaner on the rubber whilst inserting it after the rebuild........that`d be me then!
I bought a pair of replacement lens/reflector units for the Cibie Dipping Oscar headlights (with sidelights) on my 1700 5 speed and they arrived in Valeo boxes with a part number of 460118. I would have thought that quoting that number at Cafco, Partco or suchlike might produce a result.
I got mine from CARS.

Thanks for all the information guys, I'll let you know how I get on.
Ady I am in Devon so probably a bit too far, but what type of company would I need to approach to get the same thing done down here?
Fuel tank goes back in on Thursday this week so hopefully engine will be ready to run by the weekend, wish me luck.
Picture is of GP before laying up. Looks much the same now except for bull bar and dust! www.aquasigns.co.uk/geep.html

You should approach a glazing company which may be listed in Commercial Glazing or the like in Yellow pages or Thompsons. Alternatively, if new build companies around our way are still fitting wooden windows ask the site agent who does their glazing. Anybody who advertises cut to size glass should also be able to help. (They`ll still need the old one as a template and a good tip for all is to make a 6mm plywood template of your screen if it has to come out for any reason.....like I didn`t!)
A post-scipt to this thread is that although I didn't in the end change the screen as it passed the MOT ok, I did talk to a couple of auto-windscreen companies in Hampshire. They were both able to offer a cutting service if I took either my existing screen or a template to them. They were quoting about £60 for materials and cutting. The glass that they recommended was 6.4HPR.

Hurray and huzzah, two MOT passes in one day (jeep and Fury). Also had the front tyres on the jeep swapped round to equalise the wear due to the negative camber.
This new computery MOT is a bit of a malarkey what? Due to the kit cars being so simple to check, the guy had to wander about a bit to make the test last long enough. Presumably the system doesn't like quickies...
The MOT garage in Oxford have the white Rickman Ranger on eBay at present. There's a £100 bid but it needs all new suspension bushes , say £75 at www.deflex.com.
