I am considering a Cerb or a Tuscan at present and can't get it out of mind. However I love the V8S dearly and TBH sub 100mph there isn't actually that much difference in performance between a fettled V8S and the others , trust me .
However, the misses has never really liked the S, saying it looks 'old' and has only been out in it twice, yes I know whats the problem with that.
The urge for more ponies, i.e. around 400 would be nice , is pulling me to these cars.
The biggest problem is I have spent the last two years spending a lot of time, effort and a commensurate amount of money getting it to 'go' like it does .
AM I MAD .

OK

Tuscan S6 = engine goes pop £5-10K to fix plus running costs

Cerbie = 3k per yera running costs,ok it might be less but thats a safe budget plus you will need a tin opener for the roof

Your car, having just got the engine sorted surely you should enjoy it a bit before you flog it

If the finances will stretch to it, why not buy a Cerb or a Tuscan as well as keeping the S?

They are both a totally different car, more modern, more refined, dare I say more striking and a totally different experience.

And if it stretches the finances, look into selling your home as you could live in the Cerb.

I hope that helps

Look at the finances, and then make a decision. I would dearly love a Tuscan, and even if I could afford to buy one the running costs would kill me.

did fconsider selling the misses into the white slave trade but I think the market has fallen out of that since the demise of the Berlin wall .

Thought about the keep the S and get another Tiv as well, passing off a Cerb as an every day 4 seater but can't quiet justify nor afford both .

I've got to the point where the car is possibily the most powerful/fastest NA 4ltr Tiv out there (at present) and I want more . I've gone down the tune what I have route and I would suggest the addage buy a faster car is probably a better bet. I realise I will never re-coupe what I have spent and someone will be getting a bargin if I sell, which actually sticks in the throat somewhat.

Another aspect that troubles me, is current pricing of V8S's , where would you place one of the last V8S's in the desireability(sp?) stakes, I don't know , I'd be tempted to say offers .

Mine says that, ...'its shape looks old'

So I cheer her up by reminding her she is actually the oldest woman I have ever been out with but that dosn't mean I will trade her in for a new one!
I am subtle like that.

Tin hat time!!!!!

I did offer her for sale on PH, but got no takers.
Should have included a photo.

Curiously she doesn't come up with ways she is going to save huge chunks of money off our monthly outgoings and her credit card bills so I could buy the Griff or Cerbi she would feel more at home with.

Odd that.

Its not exactly horses for courses

Despite being biased (still in a state of mourning for my old V8S) coupled with the fact that my head is bruised after accidentally whacking it with a 3 foot long 10 kilo african candle, in addition to which Im suffering the after effects of sleep deprivation, I can say with clarity and conviction (mostly conviction) that a Cerbera is undoubtedly the wisest move you could make Youve been debating one for eons!

Go on Harry, you know you want to! The cerb, to paraphrse JC, is already indecently, staggaringly, face distortingly fast! And with Tim's new airbox, a few bits and some rolling road runs, you'll have so much power, the very space-time fabric will warp around the car (especially if its yellow) and you'll find yourself arriving at final destinations before you've left the previous ones

A decatted AJP will pop and bang more in 30 seconds then a RV8 will in a lifetime, and whist cruising through town the sheer number of tell tale wet spots forming in womens frontal reigons speak volumes about the actual looks of the car itself (im too modest to admit they are looking at me )

PH isnt the place to compare the Tuscan or V8S to the Cerb, but for me the cerbera is everything, and then some. Id buy one if they were 50k second hand, over a brand new Tuscan any day. If the V8 were an act, the octet would sell millions of albums and if you're one of the few who like me prefer tin tops and roll cages, theres another plus right there mate.

The thread title shows what your heart is telling you.

Keep it for another summer of top-down fun then swap it for a Cerb in time for the grey months.

Hes had it in his heart for a while, iirc.

So if you had cash in hand tomorrow, which would it be, cerb or tuscan?

That about sums it up love the shape, performance and open air motor of the Tuscan and with the right warrantee would probably get one. However, I have always lusted after a cerb as they have such presence.
On both counts though its potentially a lot of spare cash to tie up and depreciate, at this point in time I think its fair to say I have no fears for a more modern sorted cat D car over an older one .
Might just give the V8S a polish and do what Podies says to test the water. Might just as well also wait to after LeMans though, decisions(sp?) .
