Solicitor/Lawyer Referral - Car Issue
Discussion
To cut a long story short, a good friend of mine has purchased a car from a dealer which was returned to the dealer within an hour of collecting for some bodywork bits to sorted. While the bodywork chaps have the car they say that the engine is not right and the car gets sent to the warranty company to have the engine fixed.
The warranty provided by the dealer is apparently invalid as the warranty company thinks it was pre-existing damage to the front of the car that has caused the engine issues.
The dealer is denying the car hadn't been involved in an accident prior to sale, the body work company are denying the car was involved in an accident while under their care and the warranty company are not providing cover for what they say is pre-existing damage.
He has had the car in his hands for about 30 minutes and this saga has been going on for 2-3 months.
The story above is a brief summary, there is more to it but it would be a lot better to speak with him directly to understand the specifics.
Does anyone have a personal recommendation for a solicitor/lawyer that could help? Not looking for a freebie - he's expecting to pay for the help. I'll pass on any recommendations and he'll be in touch.

I know the horse has bolted now, but did he not pick up these bodywork issues before buying the car?
Also, why is it that these things always go straight to the warranty company? If the car wasn't right when bought, isn't it up to the dealer to fix? Not fob off to the warranty?
I really don't know the full story so can't pass accurate comment. What I do know is he needs some representation to get the matter resolved properly. Also, why is it that these things always go straight to the warranty company? I'll get the full details and report back when it's all been resolved. I get the feeling it will be an interesting story!

Okey dokey.I'll get the full details and report back when it's all been resolved. I get the feeling it will be an interesting story!
See so many examples of someone buying something used, it has an issue straight away, but dealer simply says 'speak to warranty company'.

Who probably have a 30 day+ clause, as they are long wise to the practice of traders buying cars, selling a warranty and trying to use that to fix issues that were there when the trader bought it.See so many examples of someone buying something used, it has an issue straight away, but dealer simply says 'speak to warranty company'.
