Well yesterday I had my 4th Aston meet - and this time with McLarens and other brands - and it was the biggest one yet. We were oversubscribed in fact but thankfully the rain early on and some accidents on the M25 meant we could just about fit everyone in to the car park.

Again some of us met in King's Cross earlier in the morning but the rain was with us:

Again we had a great variety of people: young, old, eccentric and from all walks of life. My wife for once actually came along as well and she said she really enjoyed it because people were talking about everything not just cars. I hope this encourages further people to bring their other halves to the future events and assure them it won't be all car talk!

A big thanks to Grange Aston Martin Brentwood for organising breakfast, sorting out parking, providing loads of staff (big shout out to Gary!), helping with our route afterwards and joining us as well. They're a great dealership and I highly recommend them - in fact any dealer in the Grange network like my beloved Welwyn Garden one (where I seem to spend half my life!). smile

Astons and Astons...

We had Astons and McLarens and the odd Ferrari and Lamborghini. The rain thankfully stopped when we arrived and the sun slowly came out as we approached the time to leave for our group drive. After some last minute adjustments to the route, courtesy of salesman Daniel who knew the area better than me, we were ready to go!

The odd Ferrari:

And a Lambo or two:

And of course many a McLaren:

And the two together:

But before that everyone felt the need to rev their engines (myself included) and the result of that was this video:

We had a great drive along the country roads and it was quite the sight seeing so many cool cars in my mirrors and most importantly hearing all the epic sounds. We stopped off at Bentley Golf Course for lunch where we all set about taking photos of the cars and Ian got his drone out.

After much mingling and photo taking we went in for our three course Sunday lunch which was a joy with a great view of the sun laden golf course behind us. To be honest we were all pretty hungry by that point after the long morning and the service there was great. We had nearly 30 diners as well which was good considering the earlier weather.

One of our lunch tables:

Back in King's Cross - one of my favourite photos:

All in all it was another great meet and details of the next one will be up soon...

In the meantime here are ALL the photos (including the video above) that I took:

It's a publicly shared album so please ADD YOUR PHOTOS AND VIDEOS to it as well. Also if you join the album I think you'll get notifications when new photos are added as well. I'll be adding some more of my videos later.

Cheers, Nij smile

UPDATE: Massive shout out to Dave, my original partner in crime for the first, subsequent and forthcoming events. We worked on the driving route together and he's working on a South London event.... wink

Sorry I couldn't make it Nij. My steel isn't coming back until 24th from Works - and as you know, it rained like buggery - not ideal for a trip in the Atom on semi-slicks. Looks like you enjoyed the day. Hope to make the next one.

Cheers

Yes it is - not the best picture I could've taken I have to admit! He's a real character - came to our last event as well.

Even Tim said he didn't know his father had gone to the event and taken the car .. biggrin

I had a chat with the guy that owns it,not whom you might expect it to be.
Nice older gentleman who I gathered, from others not him, also had a couple of McLaren's.
I think the raison d'etre behind the motifs was that the car being so very understated in bright orange with a whacking great rear spoiler needed the bold script to liven it up.

laugh Doesn't he also own a V12V of his own? But decided to take the Ferrari to the Aston and McLaren meet? confused

As avinalarf said above: the guy who brought along the Aventador (Alan) was a really nice guy and has a great collection of cars. He's from a McLaren owners' group I'm part of and was originally gonna bring his 675 LT but it was having some paint protection done. He also recommended the lunch venue as he's a local.

I'm sure the stickers are from an event or track day or something similar. Don't judge a book by its cover... wink

Yes he does own a V12V and he actually bought it to our last event in Welwyn. For this event he was only popping in as he was going to see some friends for lunch hence why he brought the Ferrari. Plus also this event was actually open to supercars as well as Astons which is why we also had Ferraris and Lambos sign up.

A good group of people and a lot of inter brand ownership and future ownership judging by the conversations I was having! smile

Thank you to Suzanne (Mrs El Toro) for recently uploading this great photo to the shared album of us all at lunch:
