Hi guys, thought I'd start a thread on the various cars mainly my dad and grandad have/had. Some interesting and not so interesting ones
MY dad's current toy, home built by me and dad on the driveway, around 50k miles on it, bought as standard car. Running just shy of 500bhp now

MY grandads astra, 13000miles. I've never even sat in this car! OCD isn't even close. He's the only owner and his private plate is the only plate to ever be on it.

Grandads MG, don't know too much about this one. Never really seen it it other than when he moved house a few years back. Know it's mega clean underneath though

Few old ones
Dad's old cavalier v6, as a kid I remember us beating bmws off from traffic lights towing a caravan or the rally car in this car. Still alive in the same small town 14 years later

Dad's old vectra gsi 2.5, as far as we're aware this is dead. Was quite quick back in the day when they weren't dirt cheap like they are now

Grandads old rally car

I had a white 3 door with a big spoiler for my first car.

That thing got thrashed everywhere to within an inch of its life. One night when we were 'rallying' on a long deserted track through a farmers fields I span it into a ditch and got stuck. Called a mate who then turned up with a Nova saloon full of girls and an orange flashing beacon they'd nicked!

They towed me out and we all went off to someone's free house. Happy days. smile

That's banter haha, I'm sure everyone has funny memories of mk2 Astra's. We were setting the rally car up down these little country lanes, going 100% attack mode. Came over this hump back bridge about 6ft in the air with the site of a traffic police car on the other side haha. We just went straight back home and put the car in the garage lol

Fair play to you.

My Grandad (RIP) had a 3L Wolsey until he retired in 1975, and as a present to himself he bought a Vandom Plas - Beige Allegro 15OO cc 5 speed twin carb. In 25 years of driving he never used any gear other than 3rd and Reverse. and never went over 40 mph.

My dad? He's just bought a new automatic focus estate. He's had 2 previously, and NEVER washed either in 16 years.

Yeh someone does need to tell them both that they're getting on a bit haha. I have to admit as a youngster (I'm 19) I would love an old carburettor engine of some sort. Just for the noise. Wish I was around more for that era

Which is reason to buy a car with 2 valves per cylinder operated via one cam and push rods ?
