Is it normal that the miles clocked up by the delivery driver to the new owner's address is deducted from the annual mileage allowance? The contracted mileage starts when the lease car leaves the dealer.

I am due to lose over 250 miles because of this.

I have been following a few of the lease threads on PH and understood it to be normal that the mileage allowance starts once the vehicle is delivered to you so the 250 should NOT be deducted from your total. I would certainly be rather unhappy if this was the case for my own lease car

The delivery mileage is deducted from your allowance.

My original quote for the car stated:
All the above rentals and charges are Inclusive of VAT at the prevailing rate. There are no additional charges – This price includes delivery, driven to anywhere in the Mainland UK.

Certainly wasn't for me, my contract stated that mileage was recorded on delivery and that my allowance started from when delivered to me. When delivered to home the delivery driver recorded the mileage (albeit only 8 miles) and my allowance started from that point.

The allowance should start from when you get your hands on the car.

I've lost the miles on my past two cars. Never seemed worth asking for it, considering the total lease costs and excess mileage rate.

The cars came with 1/2 a tank if fuel that more than compensated.

And they aren't charging you for the delivery. That's not the question.

If he/she goes 250 miles over the allowance then they are charging.
The contract should start with the miles the car is delivered with.

In my old one the 250 miles would have necessitated it needing a service. It was delivered on a transported so when it went back it was just short of me having to service it.

My Golf R had the starting point as per the mileage when it was delivered to me (app 138) - this was added by the delivery driver which I signed-off.

Mine came from Alphabet (BMW) and was delivered from 150 odd miles away in a covered transport with 10 miles on the clock.

The delivery guy said Alphabet insist on this.

I must admit I was much happier with this than it being brought by a delivery driver although that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.

The delivery mileage is not included in your contract mileage but you must make sure that you write down the current mileage on the delivery note the driver has for you to sign.

I managed to get it sorted with Inchcape Chester. Contracted mileage starts with the miles on the clock at delivery.

Thanks for the help
