What do you lot make of this?

Just been browsing ebaymotors and I came across this - apparently a replica TVR S by a company called Saiga. I didn't think anyone did replica S's and besides - what would be the point price-wise?

Interestingly enough, it's got a 2.3-litre Ford engine and the bodywork looks like bitsa TVR.

Anyone here know any more? I find it hard to believe that anyone would offer a replica TVR S though.

How can it be a replica of an "S" when its "Model Year: = 1980" The "S" wasn't built until the late 80's

I remember this one from the kit car mags.

IIRC, the project was run by some ex-TVR personnel.

Didn't think they'd actually got as far as building any, though - I only remember seeing pics of an unfinished prototype.

Reasoning behind the car was that plenty of people preferred the 'classic' curves of the 3000M/Taimar cars - this was during the period when TVR only built 'Wedge' series cars.

Not an entirely mis-conceived idea, therefore - I seem to recall that Mr Wheeler did rather well when he ditched the paper-dart styling of the wedges and returned to classic curves with the S-series?

Quite right - it's a 'replica' (sufficiently modified to avoid being sued by TVR) of the 3000/Taimar series.

Definitely looks more 3000 series rather than later S. But IMHO it's ugly. Out of proportioned, although the lack of the rubber bumpers is good.

That's hideous. Also, why the hell anyone would bother with the 2.3 Cologne when the 2.8 was a lardy lump for the capacity, is beyond me.

When I have money to play with, TVRs will certainly be amongst the list of literally hundreds of cars I want to drive/buy.

My favourite TVR's the T350C, FYI

Back OT, Interesting how it's got those reflected/assymmetrical vents on the top right and bottom left like the 400SE ten years later - makes you wonder how much inspiration TVR took from this 'unofficial' car - no wonder they've tried to cover it up.

If I had the money, I'd buy it, it's fascinating!

Yup, T350C lovely looking car. I'm thinking of asking if I can have one as a courtesy car when I get the Griff serviced in 2 months time. I wonder what they'll say?

I'm holding my breath whether I'll get the Corsa or the Ka when mine has it's service on Wednesday.

Wouldn't mind but it's always got a Lotus keyring and I get excited for a second every time.

I am not driving home in a Corsa or a Ka, no way.

I got the Corsa.

Really can't tell if it is worse than a Ka.

Needed a service though, so c'est la vie.
