A great experience: if you get a chance, do it.

And here are the end of day grins as evidence.

Have to say that i really wanted to go this day but didn't (and still don't ) have the shekels to be able to go. Sounds like everyone had a blinder of a time, any more pics or are they being saved for Sprint?.......

Tony took his own set of photos for Sprint.

If anyone fancies a roadlegal two seater AJP powered Tuscan all of their own I might be persuaded to sell mine in the next couple of months. Trackday in the morning, drive it to the pub in the evening!!!

and how much would such a car be?

Is this the Grant whose car was featured in some magazine a few months back? Dark grey I think, registration A6RNT or similar?

Or did I dream that?

£24,950 to you sir.

Yes it is that car, as featured in CCC, Evo, Car, etc.

Good report Jeremy - some good pictures too (the first picture of me in a long time I actually like...) - the grins say it all.

It's not a cheap day out, but highly recommended if you can get the money together, I was amazed at the difference in speed to the road cars, and the cornering ability on slicks. That dog-box was aptly named, what a dog to get used to.

I did a review for the S2000 board I visit, see www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=78620

Nice pics, although some of the comments on the S2000 board are just too incredible to believe - or perhaps they are meant tounge-in-cheek I mean we all know an S2000 will piss over any TVR but it takes the biscuit when they start having a pop about reliabilty Rich... p.s. spelling not mine

quote:
Quality pic's them Stew I nearly got a TVR cerbera but the reliability issues scared me off them I am so glad I got the S2000 instead, cause every time I drive passed a TVR the driver and passenger nearly snap their necks trying to check out my BABY & that proves I made the right decision

My only negative comment about the day was that the GT Track at Bedford is so bloody long it's impossible to learn in the time you have in the car. Charlotte wanted to bring along one of their Caterhams for us to start in but as it was a TVR day, she wasn't allowed.
This would have made learning the circuit much easier as I'm used to driving a Seven-type car, meaning I wouldn't be trying to learn to drive the car and remember where the circuit went at the same time. AFAIK, this is the plan for future events. it would have also meant that while we weren't in the Tuscan, we would have had something else to drive, meaning more track time overall.

Apart from that, it still makes me grin every time I think about it

On my first 2 or 3 laps I thought I'd be the same, but by mid-morning I think I could have (and still can) draw a layout diagram 99% accuratly of the circuit. I did 140 miles during the day in my Griff, which equates to about 40 laps, what do you think you managed in the Tuscan? Rich...

Well, with 4 of us sharing the car we didn't manage anywhere near 40 laps, probably closer to half that at the most.
5 laps at a time was probably enough, it takes quite a bit of effort to drive a Tuscan and the hot air coming into the cockpit from the engine made it quite an uncomfortable place to be, especially in a Nomex suit.

I think alternating with a locaterfield would have been counter productive for me.

The Tuscan felt similar in many ways to my V8S (obviously with a fair few expletives thrown in) whereas a locaterfield would have been completely alien for me. Also I'd been there before so my main problem was getting to grips with the car.

How many up for the other Topcat days this year? I'm signed up for the Bedford day, any other takers?

Five of us shared the car for the day, everyone got two sessions driving (about five laps each) and as luck would have it I managed a third session.

So the car probably covered 50-60 laps during the day: not bad for a race car!

Think how Rob (Rob Urquhart, TopCats driver and all round bloodly great bloke)and the rest of the drivers felt this weekend at Snetterton in the heat !! these things get really hot, I even got laughed at for wearing my mechanix gloves to take the wheels off the thing each time it came in !!

I'd like to do a day but I can't do any of the days on the PH Shop. Do you know if they are arranging any others?
