Any PC gamer's here?

Just pre-ordered this after playing the beta a few weeks back, has anyone already got on and started playing in the pre-release for this?

Quite looking forwards to Friday and watching the download bar move across slowly as the servers crash...

I'll be very much on-board with this, but won't be picking up until the end of next week in all likelihood.

Combination of time available, funds now needing to go towards a new clutch, and wanting to avoid any potential opening week server/patch mayhem...

As a Battlefield series veteran (back to 1942!) I'm certainly looking forward to it though smile

Same, I remember playing 1942 when it first came out and was blown away by it compared to comparable games!

The beta wasn't as buggy as BF4 was at release so I am crossing fingers my weekend doesn't consist of play-patch-play-patch-crash-patch-play etc

My normal procedure with Battlefield games has been to go in about a month after release- it's obviously paid off as I experienced barely a fraction of the technical issues with 3 & 4 that people were completely losing their st over.

In fact I'm pretty sure the only technical problems I experienced with those two games came about after mandatory patches were released- attempting to fix other people's games and simultaneously breaking mine! hehe

I was hoping to have built a new PC in time for this but the clutch going in my daily driver has put paid to that, so my current fx-8350 & R9 290 will have to soldier on for the time being. I'll be making a suitable offering to the FPS gods...

However, i hear its out this week - wheres best/cheapest to get it now? Quick google suggests CDKeys.com for £36...

That was the same conclusion I'd came to, I've yet to see it cheaper anywhere reputable.

I find CDkeys is almost always the cheapest for release-day purchases.

I'm (very) happy to be proved wrong though!

One of my mates is ran the beta on a 8350 overclocked to 5ghz and a r9 380x so you should be ok with a 290(I have a 390 in my desktop). What are you planning on upgrading to, have you seen the latest Zen processors from AMD coming net year?

I got BF1 from amazon for £38 delivered on friday if I signed up to 30 days of prime(£2 discount & free delivery).

Yeah it's by no means a slow setup and it's been perfect for 1080p gaming. My 290 is also the Sapphire OC model with the tri-fans on the back, an absolute peach of a card that I bought second-hand and gives me almost identical performance to my my mate's reference model 290x- all while running 20 degrees cooler! yikes

However, my monitor is an 8yr old Dell 24" widescreen (1080p) with a 60hz refresh rate- I badly want to upgrade to a 1440p 27" IPS with G-Sync.

But in order to do so I'd need to switch my card to Nvidia (I don't like the HZ restrictions with the current Free-sync tech)- most likely I'd go for a 1080 for the sake of future-proofing. But from what I can tell, my current CPU would likely bottleneck a 1080. Also, my current system has been upgraded so many times it is now essentially a Trigger's Broom pc- with just the case and power supply remaining from my original build back in 2008, and the 8gb RAM from around 2012.

Because of this, I figured I'd be better off selling my current PC as a complete (pretty capable 1080p) system and using the money to put towards a complete new build- with likely an i5 processor, 16gb RAM (because it's dirt cheap), and the aforementioned 1080 card.

But then I bought my first house a couple of months ago, a TVR followed a couple of weeks later, and now the clutch needs changing in my daily driver... So the gaming-pc fund is currently more empty than Oliver's gruel-bowl. frown

I had it on pre order & played for a couple of hours last night. Did a bit of the campaign & then a round of multiplayer. So far I love it & haven't had any issues with it or when I was playing in the beta. Looking forward to a bit of banter with the usual suspects online at some point biggrin

I have had AMD cards for years except in laptops, my current one runs G-Sync and I have to admit that running my ancient desktop monitor next to it on a more powerful machine, the laptop still plays smoother.

Price has gone up to £36.99 today. However, if you "like" their facebook page you get a 5% discount code - brings the price to £35.14 - so ive just ordered it!

Now i need to either delete Fallout 4 or Battlefield 4 from my SSD drive so i have space for BF1 on Friday... hmmm
