400se up again

The 400Se with alternative/attractive paintwork is up again on flea, although this time through a dealer. Despite previous history it still appears to be an attractive opportunity, but nothing to do with me Big Al, although personally I love the colour.

No doubt the cold start is disconnected as are a few other things not needed. A good run down the motorway will clear out the cobwebs and it'll be as good as new.I've noticed something about this car, I don't know if anyone else has. The drivers seat has been swapped with the passage seat because the recliner pull is on the wrong side. What made me look was the passenger seat being more worn than the drivers. An old trick to get even wear on both. I believe it was like that on the last sale. I had a wedge previously with the same swap. Not that it matters much though I have to say the recliner pull is a bit awkward to use on that side.

It was indeed my old car. It was a great car. Had body off, and chassis was perfect. I had stainless headers made and it has a full stainless system. I took the seat off its runners and bolted down to floor - something to do with my portly shape lol. If anyone is rubbishing this car they don't know there backside from their elbow. The engine was strong as it had been swapperd out by tasmindevil when he owned it. A wall did fall on the body and it was a Cat C. I bought it to break it but when it arrived the damage was so minor it t cut out ..... and I'm not joking. The interior needs doing as it was stripped out when I got it - Hotty glued it all back in with blu tack and bubble gum but far from perfect.
All in all a good strong car fior someone with time. I only sold it as I wasn't using it.

I've rather lost track, are you and Stephen still wedging? I haven't been down your way with work much in the last few years - until lately, when we've been doing a rolling refurb on some x-ray cabins in Telford so I was down/up the A38 last week, probably will do another trip before xmas as well.

Nice to see some of the familiar faces still on here. Steve is still wedging but only just. He still had the 400 but a bit like I was is struggling with time to use it. I sold the 400 because I did less than 100 miles in three years - work, family and working on the house etc. Wedgefest lost its appeal when some of the characters stopped going and kicking tyres in a car park looking at cars just like yours is like wallowing through mud! Steve does the Rusty Nail runs which I think is more appealing than BBWF. So my current drive is a VW T5 which I converted to carry the kids and two dogs - something I couldn't do in the wedge obviously. I do regret selling the 400 and who knows if something comes along I could be back.
Give us a shout when you're passing and we could all meet up for a beer

the new owner certainly agrees with you, he has posted on the facebook 'wedge owners uk' page and is very happy, already been on some good runs and says it goes really well, nothing wrong with it, sounds like a bargain at 6k!
