Destroying Fiat Pandas is surely some sort of public service. Can we really elect someone whos wife drives such a heap of crap?

Fiat Panda's are great cars, tough, cheap, easy to work on, fun to drive. Every time I drove mine it used to put a smile on my face. For a dirt cheap car (we picked ours up for £100) you could do a lot worse for a young driver. It may not be fast or particularly safe but the FIRE engines are great - free revving and responsive. Set a Panda up right for a corner and it will drift through with very little roll, get it wrong and you will wallow round though.

I find it reassuring that in Mr Howards household the natural order of things is maintained.
Executive or Sports car for the man-shopping trolley for the woman-you know it makes sense.

Also, surely it's more environmentally friendly to keep an older car maintained and on the road than it would be to do the New Labour thing and buy a brand new Prius (or the Liberal Democrat thing and try to commute on the clatterbox).
Apparently the police aren't interested - well obviously not, the car wasn't speeding, and vandlism involves filling in lots of forms
They say this election is getting too personal. I can't honestly see how that's to anyone's detriment as a human being right now.

exactly. she's a remarkably sound person, mrs howard - she comes across very well. rather a better ambassador for the country as "1st lady" than our current "human rights crusader" cruella da ville (sp?). howard himself is hardly media-friendly but such media-friendly savvy is what got st tony bliar elected and just look at what a shallow, superficial liar he has turned out to be.
i believe this will be a very close election; a low turn out (as it will be) usually bodes well for the tories, doesn't it?
they (tories) can certainly rely on a few million countryside alliance and similar votes - that's more than st tony can claim. does st tony even know what his "target" voter looks like?
is there such a thing - was there ever such a thing as - the new labour "mondeo man" target voter profile ...? how patronising, how typical new labour.
Both the current prime ministers wife and the leader of the oppositions wife should get the full support and security afforded to their respective positions.
Without this "protection" we run the risks of allowing bully boy tactics to affect and alter the perception and reality of an open and democratic system.
So, does Howards wife get any form of security from our illustrious security services? If not why not?

In fact, the only vote Labour really can rely on is the civil service, and not all of them can vote!
My only worry is a surprise swing to the Liberal Democrats. If you think Labour have made some mistakes you ain't seen nothing yet - if these guys get in, it's bye-bye economy, bye-bye disposable income, bye-bye cars, and something's only a civil liberty once it's been passed through the Big Yellow Acme Ideology-ometer, and Charles Kennedy decides that somehow 'abolish tuition fees' means 'graduate tax', 'resurface roads' means 'speed humps and scameras', and 'spend money on public services' means 'spend money on civil servants who operate public services'. Hopeless.
