Glass the hole and you can make it any size you want Joe.
CBS do all sorts of rotary switches. Or try RS Components.

Too late now. I've had a decal made to match the existing layout.

I think what I need is (i) one of THESE and (ii) a lathe to make up a collar to center it in the ciggy lighter hole. (i) is easy enough, (ii) is a bit of a problem smile

Don't know what dimensions you're aiming for, but is it something you could sort with a stainless penny washer and a step drill?

I can help you with ii) but not what to make it out of !

If you can tell me what sizes you want I could have a root around.

Stainless ? !!

Ok hand on that's Mike ;-)

Lathe ?

nothing that can't be done with a saw and a file.... and a bit of time.

Stainless ?

I'd go for alluminium, far easier to work then paint of cover with black sticky back plastic

This switch looks good and a nice big knob to hide the mess wink ... nice switch

Thanks Mike & Greg. That one in a lot cheaper. I'll be sorting through washers later and if that won't work maybe Greg will help with his lathe? It will be fiddly though thumbup

No lathe? No problem.....

Trial fit of a switch with the same size barrel...

I think I'll go with this one. It looks more retro and robust than the fancy one I was thinking.

Isn't there room to file a rectangular hole and have a matching rocker switch?

Good suggestion. There is, just. The edge of the hole would just be hidden by the edge of the switch, but only just. I did think of that option but it meant no return to "original" should any future owner get precious about it.

The ciggy lighter will now be swapped for a USB outlet and tucked away somewhere.

Well, having thought about it again............

It was too good an idea not to make the effort. Stuff originality!! And the panel now has a nice symmetrical layout...

Thanks Ray thumbup
