"The first motorist to clock up 2 million miles in one car is taking it on a European tour to celebrate.
Irv Gordon, 60, from New York, bought the cherry red Volvo P1800 in 1966.
He commuted 125 miles every day and took regular motoring trips - and says that in 36 years it has never let him down."

Sorry, enlighten me. what's the difference? You may be thinking of the obselete difference between US and UK billions (US - 1,000,000,000 UK 1,000,000,000,000

US gallons are smaller than imperial gallons, but I believe that that mile is the same length.

It has been revealed that this particular Volvo was the one used by the Apollo Astronauts on their little known Trans Moon Rally drive.

PS It is Texan miles that are bigger than all others.

I know a old chap who did a lot of business in America. He told me the following story. He was driving along the standard issue straight interstate road at something exceeding the local speed limit when a menacing looking cruiser with blacked out windows started stalking him. Eventually a blue light appeared in the front window and he was pulled over.

Sate trooper with boots and mirror shades, the works, struts up to his car, hand on gun (old chap was about 70!), and asks him what he was doing etc... after a bit of flattery, old chap praising his acute perception at noticing he was foreign sounding moved in for the killer blow.
Trooper "So you're English, don't you have speed limits in your country?"
Old Chap "Yes....60 or 70 mph depending"
Trooper "Exactly, so you would still have been speeding in your own country."
Old Chap "Ah, but English miles are longer than American miles...you know old imperial measurements and all that."
Trooper "Fancy that. Well you learn something new everyday" and waves him on.

bless.
