I have had my Tuscan advertised for a while and recognise that winter months are neither the right time to sell, and in my location, the right time to drive!

At the weekend I took the car off the Accumate charger, pulled the cover off, pumped up the tyres and set off for the petrol station. I enjoyed the drive so much that I realised just how much fun these cars are to own and drive, so......

Looks like I may keep the car a little longer yet . I have to say, I have started to go through that phase of looking in on her on the garage before going to bed. I think I may be getting my 'TVR mojo' back again!

Need to sort out some insurance fairly soon. I have been with Classicline last year who have been very good and gave me a really good deal. However, I like to keep my options open so if I do part company with the Tuscan later in the year, I would like to get a refund on the unused portion of the policy. Sadly Classicline do not offer this facility.

In the time honoured tradition, I would like to ask who seems to be the insurers that are offering sensible policies at the moment. I usuall go fully comp, £25-26K value, 3,000 miles per year with no track days.

Any feedback would be gratefully received.

Tesco or Direct line. You do pay 2 months upfront, then the rest via DD. so if you cancel make sure it is after 2 months...

Privelige where £200 cheaper for me this year
than Direct line who I was with last year,
same company too. 39 with a 14 day ban for speeding
funnily enough in 2002 fully comp 7000 miles a year
was £670. Direct line quoted £890 on renewal.

The Tuscan is the highest risk TVR at the moment, hence the increase in costs, i had a quote on a Tamora..................£100 CHEAPER

Direct Line if you don't want track days.
If you do, Mannings are worth a try. Sunninghill are consistantly among the highest quotes I have had for TVRs recently.

Bryan.
If you have taken to looking at the Tusc in the garage regularly then you and Andrea need to get doing the runs out again.
The run round with Lakes with the west lancs mob last sunday was great. 3 wedges , 1 griff, 3 chims ,
3 cerberas, 2 tamoras but no tuscs.
Get that insurance sorted. we'll be waiting for you.

Thanks everyone for the insurance info. I will soon start the trawl again. Got to say, its a bit like having a new car. Not seen it for a while because it has had the cover on.

James - well I did not exactly try hard to sell it did I? Just an ad on PHs - and so small print hints at the bottome of my posts!!!

Seriously though, the weather in my part of the world,up on the Pennines,is bad enough in any car. I am seriously thinking about getting a VW Toerag so I don't have to shovel 2 tons of snow to get to the main road. Hence there are a good 3-4 months of the year ( the 'salty' months ) when the Tugger stays tucked up in the garage, on an Accumate, under the cover, with a few extra psi in the tyres. Good thing was that it started up first time and drove as good as when I winterised it. Bring on the sunshine.

Whey Hey Bryan
You had me worried for a while, thought I had nearly lost one of my original mates. So glad you are back in the fold and your Mojo is back in working order.
Hope to catch up soon.

Very very close to Outlane funnily enough James. About 1.5 miles from there - but at the top of the hill with a block paved road that never gets gritted and gives a challenge to 4x4s when it snows - both up and down. Myself and the neighbours have a technique for reaching the 'main road' that we affectionately call the 'Kamikazee Bobsleigh'. This involves setting of down the hill, hitting the brakes immediately and "hopeing" that enough snow has built up in front of the locked wheels to bring the car to a halt prior to meeting a dry stone wall, fence and flower beds. Then setting off again on the flat to make a gentle right turn. Always fun when it snows here!! In fact, the first winter we lived here, I abandoned my Lexus ( I know, I know - but it makes a change from BMWs doesn't it) in the local pub car park for 2 weeks as there was no way it was ever going to get back up the hill, even in "Snow Mode", which didn't actually help in any way at all.

If you know the road over Scammonden Dam, that it was one of my regular haunts in the Tuscan. Problem is, it is such an irregular road service it is a real challenge keeping the Tuscan on the road (cross wind and sheep to contend with too)and not to come off into a moorside ditch or stream. Ahh for the flat anfd fair roads of Cheshire again.....
