Cobalt Blue on a DB11 - bad choice?
Discussion
My father is in the process of speccing his new DB11 and I'm trying to persuade him to go for something vaguely interesting colour wise instead of grey...
I suggested Cobalt Blue to him (he likes blue but not too vibrant) and he seems interested, but the salesman immediately exclaimed that nobody would want that colour come resale.
Now, I personally think that's ridiculous, it's a classy colour and would work brilliantly with some sort of ivory interior, it's not yellow with pink interior FFS.
So anyone here have a CB Aston? Is it a good choice or is my view distorted...? Thanks.

Yep, Cobalt Blue V8VS. It was the launch colour for the model. Clearly colour choice is subjective, but I absolutely love it & the reaction from others suggests the same. Not sure that many were spec'd with this colour so it's tricky to judge the effect on resale value, but I suggest that being too conservative with colour choice is a bigger risk. I say absolutely he should go for it!

If I were the Head of Business at the dealership, I'd have that salesperson shot.
And then shot again to be sure.If you cant spec an aston how you want it you dont understand luxury and deserve it less than a premiership footballer whos taking it to khan. Go buy a hyundai.
As for resale - like you should care - it can go both ways IMO, the more interesting colours can fetch a premium if more interesting people are looking to buy, or if the markets all grey people looking for grey cars you might take a little knock.
I had a Cobalt blue V8S Roadster and would have had the V12S in the same but couldn't find one when I was looking.
Colours are very subjective but personally I think it is a lovely colour, Porsche do a very similar colour called Sapphire Blue and that even looks good on a Cayenne so it must be a good colour.

Looks amazing to me. While I kind of agree that the salesperson should have politely advised that while he thinks it's a fantastic colour and suits the car, many people after an Aston in future, should he decide to move it on after many years of happy ownership, may not be quite so receptive to the colour as he is, but to put it as he did, isn't right at all.
I also agree that grey is indeed 'boring grey'. Divine Red looks nice too.

The salesman reaction surprises me because I thought such views had been consigned to history. When I was speccing our Flugplatz Blue V12VSR I spoke to quite a few dealerships to gauge their reaction to what some may consider a marmite colour. If you think Cobalt is radical......
None had any issue with the colour with most seeming to encourage a non silver/grey. Perhaps it was because it was a Vantage? Most DB11's I have seen have been blacks and greys but I did see a Cobalt one at Gaydon and it looked fantastic. Avin's picture reminded just how good.
Lets face it, it is your money and I would go for the colour I wanted. My first Astons were meteorite but when it came to selling it there is always and excuse/reason as to why they try and knock you down. I do not think Cobalt is marmite colour and you see a few Vanquishes in that colour - so why not a DB11.
Have fun deciding!!!

Cobalt looks good on the Vanquish so will look good on the DB11. As stated Aston once used it as a launch colour so they rate it.
Sales person is an idiot, depreciation will be there and the same whatever the colour
All the blues are good and I would throw into the mix Ultramarine Black which is really a very dark blue.
