Hi all

Looking at where my SIPP is invested. I am attracted to the Vanguard LifeStrategy range - does anyone have a view on them? I am looking for a cheap index tracker and these do seem to fit the bill, but it would be useful to hear about any downsides to the product which anyone has experienced, or whether there are alternative passive index trackers which are cheaper or otherwise superior.

Thanks in advance

John

Personally think these are great, I have some stake in the 60% equity accumulation version in an ISA. A single fund that offers a fairly diverse allocation, low fees (0.24% I think), solid performance and a medium risk profile. In my view there aren't many better choices for a 'set and forget' pension or S&S ISA.

ETA: to address one of your points, I've heard L&G have a similar offering, but I've not looked into it much.

This is what my S&S ISA is invested in. I went for it as it seems to be well diversified and I can just make my regular monthly payment and forget about it.

Agreed - mrs W has some of the 60% one and the combination of good performance and very low fees is attractive in my view

+1 for this. Add about a grand a month to the 80% version in my S&S ISA.

Pay and forget. Nice healthy rise since starting but obviously extremely long term.

I like the L&G offering, if we're thinking of the same one. I took a view a couple of months ago that small business would lead the breakout, and so it has come to pass, with banks lending more to SME now than at any point since 2012. The low pound helps exporting and the fund manager takes a similar view.
