I signed a lease for a Golf GTD last month and was initially told that it would arrive on the 6th October.

The week before I emailed the broker to double check and was told that it was going to be late and would be delivered on Monday 23rd October (this week). As it was my first new car I booked the day off work and waited around, got to 3.30 and contacted the broker. Finally got told at 5.30 that the car was not coming and they will be in touch.

Was told that the lease company have oversubscribed on a VW offer and VW would not allow it to be registered. All week I have been trying to get this resolved, was told yesterday that they are honouring the contract but I am still no where near getting the car, all I have been told is that it COULD come next Friday (4th November) but no promises.

What annoys me is that I have to contact the broker to get updates but I am still no further a week on. What annoys me the most is the complete lack of regard from the lease company, I have also lost multiple sales on my car due to the messing about!

So... Any advise? Do I have grounds for breach of contract? Unfortunately all the current deals are £20 a month higher so I will loose out substantially! Easily the worst customer experience I have even encountered!

You will not get the car until they contact you with a reg number and for you to insure it.
In my case I had to send them proof that the insurance was in place effective the day they had scheduled delivery.
Delays are common but to get to the point of delivery with no communication is very poor.

Is the broker in the midlands by any chance ?

I received the reg weeks ago and had insurance in place last Friday. I even had the emails last Friday saying your car is due to arrive etc...

The delay is only down to the lease company over subscribing on their deal, nothing that I have any control over. The broker has been trying to get it resolved but still no further really.

They are north based.

i had the same thing last year. Golf GTD ordered in August for expected November 2015 delivery.
Got to the start of November, so i started chasing the broker to find out when i should sell my car to take delivery for the new one.
After chasing them a bit it turns out the production was going to be delayed until Jan/Feb 16 with delivery late Feb/early March.
In the end told them to forget it and i then went out and ordered a brand new Skoda with the same engine/gearbox from the local dealer which they had just taken delivery of to use as a demonstrator, got a cracking deal then drove it away 3 days later.
this seems to be the issue with these lease companies selling them cheap.
if i'd only have to wait a couple more weeks i'd have waited for the golf, but as they were talking 4 months i ditched it.

This is why I try to deal direct with dealers wherever possible.

Current car direct through VW. Previous was direct through Merc.

Did they not provide you with a confirmed order number for the car as soon as you'd signed paperwork?
