Mclaren which one and which deal?
Discussion
I have been looking for a supercar/sports car for a while now. I have driven: F430 360, DB9, 458, 911 turbo, lp560-4, 12c.
At the moment the 12c is my choice. I have 100k available but could obviously borrow to add to that.
With that in mind I started looking at the 540c and 570. Are there some good finance deals available on a new car? It is attractive to have a 5 year warranty.
I am based near Birmingham so am thinking of going over to Mclaren B'ham to see what they can offer.
Any info or experiences would be very welcome, I have spent a while reading the posts on this forum.

If depreciation is a concern then a 12C that has already dropped £100k from list will out weigh the finance and warranty on a new 570S IMHO. But you have to find one with the spec you like and make sure its been looked after properly
I've bought both brand new and used supercars and whilst its nice to be the first/only owner it comes at a premium for the privilege.
A nearly new 650S may be out of your reach but these represent the best value/ peace of mind to my way of thinking as you could save circa £75k off list, have a 1,000 miles on the clock and the balance of a 3 year warranty

Thought they were doing 40k deposit and then £1000 a month
Does anyone have anymore information on this? I assume there is a Ballon payment at the end. This could be of interest as I would use my remaining 60k as a deposit to buy a house, the rent from that would pay most of the £1000 a month.

It's based on the list price of £143k. You'll need to factor in options, delivery, tax etc. So assuming £20/5k extras (about average I'd say) you need a £60/5k deposit and then it's £1k a month. That is using Mclaren finance. But you may be able to do better elsewhere. I have.
Is there a Ballon payment at the end? because at 1k a month it would be about 10years until the car was paid off.Would suggest the 12c the best option for you, very good cars are available up to 120k and just over the 100 gets you a nice car, personally I wouldn't borrow money to rent a depreciating asset in the shape of a 570, nice to have new of course but nothing to suggest they will not fall in value the same way the 12c has, which just to make a point listed price new was £168k so whilst most cars were 200k mine 220k it's a bit unfair to say they have dropped 100k.
At current levels the 12c is a bit of a bargain, just buy either from McLaren with the factory warranty, or privately with a factory warranty you can transfer, worth a call also to Alastair Bolls.

Thanks for the advice, I think as far as the cars go the 12c is my favourite from a looks perspective. It's the only one I have driven and it was terrifyingly fast.At current levels the 12c is a bit of a bargain, just buy either from McLaren with the factory warranty, or privately with a factory warranty you can transfer, worth a call also to Alastair Bolls.
Who is Alastair Bolts??
Just worried about something going wrong, I had a bad experience a few years ago when I bought an AMG merc privately and after 6 weeks had to replace the gearbox.
I assume Mclaren offer a warranty on 2nd hand cars.

Alistair Bols can probably fairly argue to be the leading independent seller of McLaren cars in the Uk (perhaps World ??)
Many of the cars for sale with him are “Sale or Return” so if they have “factory” warranty it can be transferred to the new owner and if no warranty, he provides his own (underwritten by the same organisation that dose the used warranty for McLaren dealerships)(I think)
My cars is for sale with him at the moment, he is real gent (and fountain of knowledge)…in his charming way he has managed to nudge me into getting the car serviced and add a full factory warranty…to make sure its perfect for the next owner….(all be it he has sorted out all the prep work, logistics and dealing with the dealership)…lots of piece of mind for a very modest sub 3% of the asking price......

I am more interested in where you can get a house for £60k that will give you a grand a month in rent - I will take 2 and sod the car...😀This could be of interest as I would use my remaining 60k as a deposit to buy a house, the rent from that would pay most of the £1000 a month.

Last of the line 12c spyder is by far the best of the bunch .....
This one being the greatest in the world.....

Note - I may have stretched the truth a little to allow me to upgrade to a 650s
Which is of course the greatest car in the world, gospel

The guys at Birmingham will look after you, however I'd definitely recommend looking at Alistair Bols stock and speaking with him. He gave me very good impartial advice and helped me to buy a car (not from him which is why I say he can give impartial advice)
This is the best time of the year to buy on as there is a lot to choose from. Big differences in spec (options) so make sure you understand the differences.
In last 2 years I would say depreciation has been under 5%, some colours seem to sell better than others and pricing seems to be linked to colour of late.
Good luck

60k is your deposit on a buy to let Mortgage. I have a house I bought last year at auction for 131k and put 10k into it which gets me £825 a month. I remortgaged at its real value of £190k 6 months later and got almost my entire investment back. The mortgage costs me £225 a month.I don't normally buy cars on finance but when the money can be used to make more money and borrowing is cheap it's probably a sensible option.

Thorney Motorsport will carry out a thorough pre purchase check for a very reasonable £199. Check includes body, engine, transmission, cooling system, test drive, suspension, chassis etc.John is very frank and straight up and comes across as extremely knowledgable about the McLaren range, he has a 12C himself.
Very highly recommended. Note that I'd be wanting to take a car to him pre-purchase irrespective of where I was purchasing it, even from a McLaren main dealer. He will travel to the car if need be so if the dealer refuses to let the car be taken to him then he will come to the car.

What part of the country are you in that £140k buys you a house with a rental of £825 pm.I don't normally buy cars on finance but when the money can be used to make more money and borrowing is cheap it's probably a sensible option.
Flats down here are £180k and you are lucky to get £600 rent per month
What about the 40% tax you have to pay on the income. I'm thinking of realising some of my properties and coming out of the rent game as it doesn't stack up for me down here anymore
