Any ejection seats anywhere...?
Discussion
Hi all.
My Dad was an armourer in the RAF a long time ago.
As well as firearms, most of his career was spent putting bombs on aircraft and ejections seats.
I have seen a few on eBay but they're always daft money.
Thought it was worth asking here - Is anyone aware of any available?
Thanks, Stuart.

I've got a pilot seat from an F4 Phanton jet taking up space in my garage.
All I know about it is that it was fired, I think, over Lincolnshire in the early 70's and the pilot survived. I did some reading about in when I acquired it in the early 90's with the plan to turn it into a PlayStation seat - something my wife has vetoed!

It's at the back of the garage so it's a bit of work to drag it out - and the fecker weighs over a 100lbs! I'm due to tidy the garage out at some point over the winter but if you're super keen and serious I could drag my ass out of bed early on Saturday I suppose

Pacific Compagnie in Paris had a highly polished one in the window a while back, for EUR 25k or so.
Here you go.. That's from a Jet Provost..

One from an F4 should be at least EUR 50K !!

PM me what you'd like for it and condition first.
There's a very real chance I can't afford it...! Lol.
Thanks, Stuart.
Realistically they go for hundreds rather than thousands, depending upon condition and completeness. Older seats are becoming very difficult to find parts for, particularly the soft furnishing aspects... anybody got a full set of safety equipment for a Martin Baker Mk.2H? No, didn't think so...

I was once, many years ago, offered a fully complete Lightning seat for £50. Turned it down because I was too lazy to drive over to pick it up....
Duh !
The boss of a firm I worked for in London a couple of years ago, had the complete MB seat from a Lightning T.4 on display next to his desk.Duh !
First day I was there, I saw it and recognised the serial number as from a T.4 and told him in the break-out area that I knew someone that had logged quite a few hours sat in that very seat back in the late 60's....he was a tad surprised that, a) I knew what it was, let alone where it had come from, and that I knew someone that had flown it!!
Geeks of the world united

Why not contact Martin Baker, and see if they have some old ones going spare?
