I have been given a Denon surround sound system but I don't want to use it as that

I quite fancy getting a deck to play vinyl and an amp so my questions are

1) can I use some of the surround sound speakers to play vinyl?

2) what reasonably priced app and deck should I be looking at (say £300)?

Do you have anymore details on the Denon system? If it a wacky all in one system or a separate amp, if it's a separate amp do you have model numbers, not all Denon are created equally.

I have an oldish Denon amp which I'd have no qualms using for what you want, it even has a phono input for a turntable and is a surprisingly good performer for stereo.

Having had a closer look what I have is shown below (not my picture). So I have all those speakers plus an AVR 770SD AV Surround Sound receiver (whatever that is!)

You'd get a far better sound with a half decent pair of stereo speakers on some stands.

Thanks for that. As you say not a lot of money

I was just trying to see if there was any mileage in using the surround sound system but I think I'd rather give it back and get something long the lines you have suggested rather than end up with something too compromised
