I shall be laying the girl up for winter this weekend and I intend to do a complete coolant flush as it is not in good condition. Which make of coolant and colour is the recommended one by most v8s users. Thanks

I've been using Halfords OAT stuff up till now but I've been told this is not suitable for cars with yellow metal in the cooling systems. I'll be switching to the blue glycol stuff in the spring when I fit my new rad.

Stick to glycol ! . OAT also not suitable if you have silicon hoses ,as well as brass etc

Never had an issue with OAT coolant and silicone hoses, but it has been known to eat the solder in some of the earlier radiators. Blue stuff is only usually good for two years, but it's a safe bet. In my opinion, Evans Waterless is the very best stuff you could put in it, but we're jumping up a few price brackets to get to that.

With an alloy engine it's important to keep the anti-oxidation additives at full strength so you should be renewing the coolant every couple of years anyway.
