Ive been reading this month's BMW CAR magazine article on the Z4 3.0 Coupe and am pleased they are holding value well. Made me wonder what my Z4MR is worth and how much I should insure it for.

So, how much would this be worth selling private? It has done c60k miles and meticulously looked after.

Prices seem to be around 14-16k at dealers for that kind of mileage, as a reference I sold my fully loaded Z4MR with 39k miles for just under £17k in July. If you can wait until spring, you're more likely to get a bite.

Thanks - as I thought. Wont be selling anytime soon though.

I have just advertised my Brother in Laws mint 20k mile Z4m roadster. Hard car to price being such a good low mileage example.

Tried calling Munich legends on 4 occasions being promised to be called back regarding a SOR and they never do. As imo that would be best option to try and shift one of the best examples out there. Was really wanting to know what they would market it at as they charge £2500 which i have no problem with unless they advertise car for 19k .... Which is unlikely.
Have had a number of enquiries but most seem to be dreamers or "too far away". which makes no sense to me when as said its arguably the best example on the market.

I've advised him on keeping hold of it and storing it (not sure if that is good advice) but he is more attached to his cerbera. And one should really go in way for a house upgrade.

No problem, interestingly I see a couple of cars for sale that were there when I advertised mine - so as ever, price / spec is important.

I see one lower spec roadster with 16k miles up for £21k (which is rather ambitious I think) and the bottom of the market is just shy of £10k for one with 131k.

A friend has just bought a Z4MR with low miles for £13k which indicates the annual softening of the convertible market - it's in great condition & a good buy.

My friend has just bought one, 2007 '07 44K miles, everything except NAV. In blue. FSH £16251

It’s in very good condition, drives faultless.

I'm not so sure the market is softening much to these, with very high mile cars at £10-12K i think they have hit the bottom as far as can see.

Low mile cars are very few and far between.

It'll start to become a supply and demand thing before long with only 23 cars for sale on Autotrader, the lowest mile example is up at £21K , then £17999 and £17450 respectively, there are very few low mile cars for sale under the £16K. You'll need to be flexible on colour as most appear to be black.

Sytner has a used approved one, for £17500 (45K miles 06 plate) which would seem good considering it should have a 1 year AUC warranty...

I'm sure this time next year prices of the majority of low mile cars will be either pushing £20K or at at least at similar prices to now, i would say anyone hanging on for a bargain or price drop might be disappointed.

My mate has been hanging on for 09 plate Nissan GTR's prices to drop, and they are now going back up in price, and are having more miles on than 1 year ago, he risks missing out on the earlier lower mile cars soon, and effectively having to pay more for a older higher mile car as supply is relatively low.

It’ll get to the point where not many Z4M's will be around on sale with fewer than 60K miles, and they are only getting older and rarer IMO.

Andy

My brother in laws is a mint example with only 20,800 miles I think is a decent usable investment at £18995
Say over the next 5 years and do 2000 miles a year in it it will still only be 30k miles ... wonder what value would be then...

So what on earth is the point of asking the question?

Just enjoy owning and driving it.

I know you can't compare new with old, but what is actually on offer to buy new that is comparable ? I.e. Manual, 300+bhp N/A engine ...
These types of cars are becoming extremely thin on the ground.

370z ? Is there a new SLK amg? (If there is it's probably a turbo). Boxster is now turbo etc

At this time of year you'd do well to get 10.5-11k from a delaer for a 60k example-in spring maybe 11.5-12K if you're lucky and they have a buyer in hand -for a private sale with a following wind realistically add a grand to those numbers . I have a 43k Z4M with FSH and last Nov I got offered a firm 12.5K by a dealer . Then i reckoned what i could i buy with 12.5K to compare with the M ? So i stuck .

I think you would be insane trading with a dealer, sell it private easily. Most of the dealers want £3K+ profits on the cars they buy in. Most cases these days WBAC are offering a fair chunk more than dealer trade in - not that i'm in anyway saying this is a good option!

They were pulling your pants down with £12500 there. Was this a BMW dealer? they would have retailed that for £17K+, so good to hear you kept it.

I will always sell my cars on the open market private. Unless you are desperate then you might trade up, sell to WBAC - either way all you do is flush £3k down the pan. Appreciated they have business to run, but doesn't make me want to trade with them. having just dealt with a Porsche centre, we got over £2500 more selling private than Porsche offered, and it was no hassle at all. Cost me £56.00 all in.
