Head for the hills.

Sounds like it's come from the hills of Yorkshire (all the way to the black country). I'm thinking setting out to sea might be the only way.

When I worked at Comet we had a similarly worded letter of complaint, but including references to various secret societies and royal connections and some veiled threats about getting these secret societies involved against us in the writers quest to get us put out of business due to his washing machine breaking down out of warranty...

...turned out he'd purchased said washing machine from the Currys half a mile down the road, so wasn't even meant for us

Many moons ago I worked at Comet.

A customer bought a washing machine and wanted to take it with him. No problem, we helped him load it into his car.

We (tried) to remind him that he had to remove the transit bolts. On this model you popped the top and undid a single bolt allowing the drum to drop into position. He said "yeah yeah yeah done all before sunshine don't patronise me, etc"

Next day on opening, a very irate customer on the phone. "F**** marine is bouncing all over the kitchen, you've sold me a dud, F***, C***S, etc. You had better get an engineer here NOW or replace it".

We sent an engineer.

He dropped by the store about 4 hours later in fits of laughter.

The customer had removed the top. He had removed the transit bolt. He had then also spent 3 hours chipping the large concrete block off the machine (which was intended to be there). So the machine, of course bounced across his kitchen...

Had the same, but with a feisty feministy female customer, who gave us a lecture about how "a woman can do anything a man can" and then a couple of hours later came back in to complain about the concrete block that shouldn't have been there.
