Hi,

I've started intermittently getting the P0401 error code. It's happened twice now. ECU light has come on and then went back off.

Is this the beginning of the end? the end being replacing the EGR hardware? I'm aware the part is £300+ plus several hours to replace it.

Anyone know how long before the ECU light will become a permanent feature on the dashboard? Plus any possible effects on how the engine performs?

CR140 engine, 6 yr old, 81K miles.

Increased emissions and reduced fuel economy. Could lead to running and starting issues.

I replaced the one on the wifes 1.9pd engine and it took about an our. May be harder depending on where it's fitted. How about cleaning it out if the lights not yet on permanently?

They're a pig to get to on these engines, you have to remove the inlet manifold as they sit under it between that and the exhaust manifold.

They're also about £100 for the part.
