Pavement Cyclists !
Discussion
Minister for Cycling Robert Goodwill has reiterated that the official line from the Department for Transport (DfT) is that cyclists may ride on the footway – more commonly referred to as pavements – provided they do so considerately, and that police officers need to exercise discretion.

Nicked them for what, keeping out of the way of motorists? That's the reason many 'footpaths' are now combined pedestrian/cycle ways. It's all about reducing accident risk and to me this is a sensible way of doing it.Not young kids but adult men & women, the lycra hatted a

Around Medway most of the paths have become shared footpaths for peds & cyclist. Works well most of the time although a few times had issues. Generally with dozy dog walkers & the other day with a poxy jogger who was using a walkman so couldn't hear me.
A Walkman, is this 1980 all over again???

Are pavements 'everywhere' now?Not young kids but adult men & women, the lycra hatted a

Anyway, I think I'm going to start a new thread about vehicles being parked on pavements everywhere. Seems to be a thing now that drivers would rather block a pavement than park properly.
If they ride sensibly with consideration for pedestrians then I don't see a problem.
Cyclists use the pavement in Tokyo without any problems. The difference is they aren't selfish and think they're on the tdf.
From the cyclist's point of view it's safer as there are (usually) no potholes in the pavement.

So you are saying a govt minister can change a law on a whim ? Without parliament approval. ?funkyrobot said:

I walk my grandhildren to and from school along a bridleway, so cyclists are legally allowed to cycle along it. I was playing 'That's not my . . .', parents and grandparents no doubt know the book series, and I did a 'TNM' on cars. That's not my car, it's black. At the end of the bridleway we came up to a 4x4 blocking the path to the extent that those pushing prams had to make a detour of about 100 yds. So I said, That's not my car, granddad wouldn't park so selfishly, blocking the path. The woman a step or two in front of me then got into the car, opening the door and blocking the little bit of space left. She gave me a dirty look. Yes, that's right, she gave me the dirty look.
