Hi,

Had an interesting experience whilst looking to buy a RS4 today via EBAY (private seller)

Was advertised as 57,000 miles, 3 owners and FASH and we agreed a p/x + cash his way. Then it started to fall apart :-

1. Said he'd end the auction early but didn't and then another user won the auction;
2. Was reluctant to let me get an AA/RAC check
3. Insisted instead that I call Audi to confirm the service history. However, when I tried, the records they had didn't match the pictures in the service book.
4. He said it had just been serviced but the stamp wasn't in the service book and the most recent was from 2013, had no recorded miles and the Audi garage couldn't confirm the service had been done
5. The Audi dealer he claims to have all the service history is a 5hr round trip from his address.....
6. He point blank refused to call the dealer himself to sort it
7. Then said he didn't have a V5 book but did have the new keeper part (who the h3ll does this)
8. He sent me a HPI check from last month with some other guys name on and when I question this he said it was his bro-in-law name as he did it on his computer - total b/s ?

I pulled out of the deal and he threw his toys out of the pram. Apparently I'm a tyre kicker and time waster for doing due diligence)

Consider yourself lucky, and reprimanded for taking so long to get in touch! smile

Thanks tumble dryer, I've been using the site for years but never posted

Seller went mental, he can't seem to understand why I did the checks I did (he seems to think I'm the only person who would do this.....) and for pulling out of the deal

Lucky escape! I think I'd have pulled the plug after the first 1 or 2 problems. The more you dig, the more bullst you usually expose. smile

Not sure if I should post the REG or any URL as he said he'll relist......

Also claims to have all the dealer paperwork for the service history etc. but why the h3ll wouldn't the service book match Audi's records (had a private plate but they found the car)

Not sure if the seller is a fraud or just worried that I've found out whet he should have before he purchased the car?

Don't post the reg, just put it down to a lucky escape and find an honest rs4

Just had a look at your post on RS246.com all looks a bit dodgy to me as others have said you would expect someone who owns this type of car to get the information like that spot on, right choice in my book can you not claim your deposit back of eBay it is certainly worth a shot.
