pre-ordered gran turismo 4 from amazon in january. saw that game was dispatched last tuesday, arriving on wednesday with 1st class mail.

wednesday came and went
as did thursday...
and friday...

emailed amazon asking them, they refunded me the cost of postage.

eagerly awaited monday hoping for it to drop in the box, no such luck, emailed royal mail, and tried to ring them, got an absolutely STUPID recorded voice which gave me no help whatsoever. they havent replied to my email

i am getting very worried as to the whereabouts of gran turismo 4 and just wondered if anyone had any advice?

Call royal mail on 08457 740 740, and they'll try and trace it for you. They'll also send you a book of 1st class stamps if you sound really unhappy.

thats the number i rang, but i couldnt navigate through the automated voice, i didnt know that they could track it??

by the way i would rather have the game than the book of stamps, dont send all that much mail!

None taken - they do it as a gesture of goodwill when you're peeved.

As far as tracking it goes, they'll contact your sorting office about it. I had a similar problem a while back, they spoke to everyone that would've had contact with my parcel right down to my actual postman. Only took an hour or two.....

The key to navigating phone systems is not to press anything. This leads the system to either believe you don't have a touch tone phone, or that you are disabled.

I occasionaly work for the royal mail. There are a lot of people who claim to have sent something, only to "send" it again if it gets lost. If this one turns up, check the postmark.

Errr... also gonna stick my head over the parapet as I also work occasionally for Royal Mail. The low paid, non english speaking, agency staff who work in the sorting offices/hubs soon get to recognise the "right shape" parcels.

Nuff said.

...so that you can be unhappy on a further number of ocassions when you rely on their services!



To be fair, I don't have much of a gripe - 90%+ of the time they provide an excellent service.

I think you just have to accept that the postal service offered to us these days is p!ss-poor. An example of problems I've had as an average homeowner over the last few months or so:

Tax return papers from the IR not received (twice)

Mortgage papers from my mortgage company not received (twice)

Mortgage papers to my mortgage company not received

Several cards sent to people never arrived

Birthday card sent to me recently took 4 days to travel 5 miles (1st class)

And I've lost count of the number of utility bills that have never showed up...

Like I say, p!ss-poor... get used to it.

Very kind of the Royal Mail to post a 12" record to me, which is clearly marked on the front "FRAGILE - DO NOT BEND" by folding it in half and putting it through my letterbox.....

well just rang them, waited like you said, and spoke to someone, but they said that they cant track first class,

amazon say that they will send out a replacement if i contact them on the 18th, so will be doing that.

Well at least you can console yourself with the fact that the postie who would have knicked your new credit card to purchase GT4, has instead just decided to miss the middleman out and stolen the GT4 itself. Think of how much money you will have been saved......

PS, to any people on P/Heads who work for the Royal Mail, dont complain, you know its true and theft happens on a massive scale. The quicker its privatised and the Unions grip on this near monopoly is at an end, then the quicker employees who dump post, or steal birhday cards or leave for home three hours before they are supposed to, are sacked, the better.
