Near to me in West London is a strange emporium, it's predominantly a Thai beauty parlour as you can see. What isn't so obvious given the reflection is the left side of the shop is packed with, er, classic chinaware crockery. An odd combination- what else is out there?

I knew of a business in my town (business now closed) which was for clothing alterations, which had a sign in the window " Now serving soup and homemade sandwiches".

As you do.

There's a newsagent near me that has started selling fruit & veg on one side of the shop and second hand bikes on the other.

Handy for when you pop in for a paper and realised you also need an old BMX and an onion.

One of the shops in Horsham, sells all kinds of small homeware/houseware items from brooms, dustpans, bins, those large duarable plastic bags that you keep your ski gear in 10 months a year, as well as small furniture items such as sideboards, chairs, cushions.

But they also have 2 small tables crammed inside with a few chairs and sell hot drinks and a few sandwiches and snack items.

My mum loves this shop.

There's a bike shop in Walthamstow that also sells drum kits. No idea if you can buy a bike with a drum kit fitted to it though.

Served in NI for a while back in the 80's down on the border - bandit country as it became known. Very common for the local shop to double up as pub (one or two pumps), post office, hardware shop, toy shop. All sorts of stuff cheek by jowl packed into a small room that used to be the living room of a house. Combine that with isolated farms with no elec, gas, water & still with mud floors. Family living upstairs. Bizarre fecked up place.

I recall going down to Brighton with my girlfriend at the time and took my mum along for a bit of a family day out.

I popped into a shop that sold piercing bits and pieces, nothing too crazy just ball bars and tunnels etc. Decided to head downstairs (mother in tow) to be presented with cabinets full of objects designs to be inserted into various places! A cabinet full of butt plugs shaped like hand grenades to human hands was unexpected and somewhat awkward!

Out in the sticks of Ireland where my grandmother lives until recently there was a half pub half grocery store setup, very strange indeed.

I've always wondered how this place stays in business:

I don't see many cowboys wondering around Farnborough...

And yet a shop repairing shoes while offering to cut you a new front door key seems perfectly normal.

The post office in my village is a corner shop through the front, a post office counter at the back and a random ironmonger in the middle.

Under one roof, you could get lunch, greetings cards, porn, fags, rent a carpet cleaner, buy wellies, get fuses and screwdrivers, a skateboard, some wally dugs, a sieve, and collect your pension.

There's one near me that does fancy dress, audio equipment, outboards and fishing equipment. There's another one, the Tutu shop in Troon (Cornwall, not Scotland) that I believe just sells Tutus. I had no idea there would be enough business to keep going.

I remember a pie shop I went to in Durban. On the right hand side there were several heated cabinets of pies. On the left side of the shop there was a ridiculous amount of porn magazines, probably a 20-30ft long wall and 5-6 shelves high.
