Did this during the week.

I have lift so have access to the underneath - would be a pig otherwise.

I bought filters from Superperformance and plugs and oil from Opie Oils.
Note - they only supply 1 sump plug washer - you need a min of two and 6 for the fuel filters.

Air filters - doesn't need any explanation.

Plugs - 3 and 4 are tricky to get at but moving a couple of hoses and bracket gives you access to 3 and 4 on each side. the plastic trim that holds the ht leads in place needs to be unscrewed. The old plugs were not very tight

Oil Filters. The ones I took off said torque to 20-22 nm the ones supplied said 10 -12nm. Ferrari chat offered 15lb's. Which is more than my feeble hands could muster. They had slightly different part numbers but they have gone on and do not leak. The old ones were finger tight - just.

Hill engineering sell a well made filter removal tool for £50, Facom sell one for about £16 that does the same job - D.164

There are two plugs on the sump - a small one at the back and large one on the bottom. I removed and changed both washers as they were weeping, but the large one doesn't need to come out. The oil tank is infront of the passenger wheel again undo the plug and let the oil out. More comes out of the tank than the sump. I got a decent amount out and put in just over 11 litres. Again Fchat suggests 12 the original 10.5 stated is wrong.

Fuel Filters - they live in front of the rear wheels. You don't need to remove all of the side under tray, just enough bolts to give you access.
Remove the bolt/nut from the bracket - gives you a little more room to move the filter. Front connection is rigid, rear is flexible.
22mm span to hold the filter, 19mm to undo the nut. Once the rigid one is undone it is easy to move around to get to the rear. There is a double male connector in the rigid pipe end, this needs to come out and go in the new filter - 17mm spanner.

Refitting is the reverse with brand new washers.

Gearbox oil was replaced recently so did not do that again.

It is going in for Belts, so will do coolant after that.

Not a hard job if you can get underneath the car.

Love these DIY posts on Supercar maintenance. If you're competent you get to know your car more and know the job has been done properly. I wonder, for example, how often those fuel filters haven't been done properly...

One of the things that got me into doing my own work was when I owned a V12 XJ-S (owned 2 actually but not at the same time). Every time it went in to a "specialist" it came back worse than it went in so I learned to do it all myself. Obviously saved money but the work was always doen properly because it didn't matter how long it took for one thing.

One thing it also saved me from which was priceless: the bull I kept hearing about how "your car is fitted with this which is a pain" or "this job involves this, etc" which often were wildly inaccurate and just meant they could charge me more.

Keep these posts coming!
