...for parking I paid for, and have an email receipt for (from the same company sending the charge notice).

I've gone back to the company in question with it - but I'd like to know if this sort of thing is common?

It seems farcical.

Mine relates to parking I did at the start of October.

What company, is it council or private?

if its private then check out MSE parking fine forums.

In summary; if its private then the company will be operating under either BPA or IPC. If its IPC youll never win so just ignore it and dont pay. if its BPA then use the simple advice over at MSE forums and appeal to POPLA. Its quite a simple process. Hopefully youre not moronic enough to pay them.

It's private, and IPC.

I'm not sure what you mean by "you'll never win".

I've already paid for the parking (I parked and paid correctly), I don't intend to pay them for their parking charge-notice to keeper thing too.

If you have an email receipt for it then just copy it to them, what's the problem?

As I said in my first post on this thread, I did send them the receipt.

The thing I am interested in is this: "I'd like to know if this sort of thing is common?"

Okay well PCNs are common, email receipts not so.

The parking is Nene Valley Park (Peterborough). The company is Park with Ease.

They use ANPR to take a photo of your car's numberplate on the way in , and another on the way out. You have 48 hours to pay £4 or whatever to park, which you do online, and when you do that, they send you a receipt showing when you parked from and to, the charge and the transaction data from your card. That's the receipt I have: the parking was paid for. I don't think receipts for parking like that are all that uncommon to be honest.

The weird part is receiving a parking charge notice through the post claiming I owe £25.

So - is it common for parking companies to issue PCNs for parking that was actually paid for? I forwarded them their own receipt for £4 back to them...

There is a terrible idea on pistonheads that these tickets issued by private firms are somehow legit and its something that really pisses me off. People end up stting themselves and paying £100 (one hundred smackers...) or even more than they get the letters with big bold black lettering demanding they pay their debts else go to hell and face the wrath of the devil (and their fake debt collection letters).

IPC is run by the private firms themselves. They run an independent appeals service which isn't independent and known as a kangaroo court. This means your appeals no matter what will be declined.

If it were BPA/POPLA then you would have a decent chance of having the ticket overturned easily using a bit of forum advice, to give you an idea I used to bait a company called UKCPM into giving me tickets (had 20 in total) and just used internet advice to have them all overturned.

Basically you will be sent letters from now on, the company will probably then pass your imaginary debt onto a debt collection agency and threaten court action. Its all complete bullst. I would advise you to ignore it and keep the letters. Seek advice over on MSE or PEPIPOO forums if you arent sure.

What rubbish.

Stop moaning and pay the posted parking fee - then you won't get a ticket!

OP has paid for the parking fee. OP has received a request for more because the firm that manages the car park is a scam.

Woohoo!

They've accepted that they made a mistake and have written me an email to explain that they've cancelled everything and deleted me off their systems.

Now send them an invoice for £70 for the hour you have spent dealing with them.

Another stellar example of excitable bell ends on PH who wade in and post dribble without reading the original post properly.

I like your thinking but I am disinclined to spend any more time on these muppets.

You know, people and systems do occasionally cock up. I had a parking ticket from a Scarborough Borough CEO last year. I'd paid for parking via RingGo (so no ticket to put on screen) in one of their long stay car parks, which is a transferrable ticket. I then moved to another long stay car park in the borough and got ticketed as the CEO didn't check my registration against all the possible car parks.

But the thing is, I forwarded a copy of the email receipt with the ticket number. 2 weeks later Scarborough Borough emailed me back acknowledging their mistake and rescinding the ticket. No need for a thread, no need to claim £70 for dealing with them. st happens.

I find it interesting that an APNR system cocked up like this (in my case) - as in, no person in the loop.

So its not ok for an average person to demand money when a parking company cocks up, but it is ok for a parking company to demand money when an average person cocks up?
Which parking company do you work for?
