Now I know it's a very subjective question, but I'm in the market for a decent sounding speaker which I can Airplay from my iphone to in the highest quality I can (FLAC??)?

I want simplicity, I'm not into 'building' a system, but just want something which will work simply in one box.

I've been to Currys tonight and seen a Naim Mu-So which sounded like it was ticking all boxes (sound quality/looks/simplicity)........apart from price (£895).

I'm not saying it's too much money as my budget is up to £1,000 maximum, but I'm the sort of person who always wonders if there's something out there for a similar budget but better?

Plus they didn't have one in stock (a week to order) so it's given me time to research!

Thanks for any advice!

Nowhere near Naim. But for 250 quid, quite a no- brainer:

Will the Naim sound 3,5 times better?

For the £1000 budget I think it would worthwhile trying to audition a pair of AVI DM5s fed by and Airport Express.
Lots of very complementary comments about the AVIs on various Forums.

Not heard the DM5s myself yet but have been very impressed by every AVI speaker I have heard. Designer Martin Grindrod's crossover work is extremely good; all imho of course but I say this as a person who has designed several commercial passive and active speakers.

Might also be worth checking Dynaudio's Xeo range too.....

Cheers guys. I went to the local richer sounds and demo'd the Naim properly and I wasn't that impressed. At high volume things got a bit messy and I wasn't that impressed with the low volume clarity. Although I could only text over a 3.5mm cable as they hadn't got a network setup to test hi res playback which seemed odd.

They also didn't have any of those Cambridge ones in (discontinued) so again another disappointment with RS.

I'm back to the drawing board.

Apologies, I didn't read your first post very well getmecoat . If you're looking for a one box solution then one of these http://www.ruarkaudio.com/products/r4-features might fit the bill. It uses Cambridge silicon radio's APT-X tech to handle the streaming; don't know what the R4 sounds like personally but some forums have rated it close to Meridian's F80. The F80 is by far the best one box system I've heard.

The MINX Air 200 has been discontiued; latest version is the Air 200 V2 (not MINX nor the German missile). Maybe the RS guy got confused?
