My D30 has developed an annoying fault with the LCD. It just does nothing every now and then. A firm press of the casing sometimes revives it occasio0nally which leads me to think it's just a loose connection. All my screwdrivers are too big for the screws, thank christ, so it'll need to go to someone who knows how to put stuff back together.

Is it worth sending it to Canon, bearing in mind no warrenty, or is there an independent repair company that'll do it for a reasonable sum?

I'd try www.lehmannsdirect.co.uk/ or www.fixationuk.com/

Been there and done that (a few too many times if truth be told).

Had a D30 repaired by Canon a few weeks ago, good price and fairly quick turnaround. All in I seem to remember it was around £85 (I didn't pay so I can't remember the exact cost!)

That sounds more like the kind of price i was hoping for. It seems to be an intermittant fault, it's only done it once in 400 pics today so i'll probably wait until it gets REALLY annoying before i get anythign done about it.

I've been to Fixation, they seem good. But the quote to get my D1X back to full working order was over £500! Not their fault, but that was a big shock for me, considering it's only small things that need doing, but they all mount up.
