Before you say why I don't attend normal gym, hahah no I'm not signing up with some contract for a year which they all seem to want.
I used to workout in an basic outdoor gym before I came to UK , it was free, you got to do it in fresh air, could take my dog for a walk before hitting it, and again there were no contracts and it was free.

I have seen some outdoor stuff here which looks like are made for kids or very old people and you can't do anything properly there,
like these, I doubt the ''bench press' construction there can give more than 10kg of resistance from what I have tried... #-o

What Im after is just some basic bench press with free weights or way more resistance, and some other basic stuff like a pull-up bar, is it because they don't want people to get hurt here and councils to get sued so they don't put up proper stuff or what?
this is what a proper outdoor gym looks like, a bit of russian style:

The only one I know of is much more designed for kids and old people and very little resistance.

There isn't the finding really for this in the UK with all the local authority cutbacks combined with poor weather and risk of theft/damage/vandalism but also health and safety and risk of litigation if someone injures themselves (their fault or not) -& then sues the local authority

Clapham Common has some pull up bars, dip bars, hurdles and stuff in it.

And a few places have Trim Trails with that sort of stuff along the route if you want to get a run in too.

Not aware of anywhere with any actual weighted set up, it's all body weight exercises.

No I just don't want to signup for a year contract... i wouldn't mind paying their monthly fee if I could pay it when I actually use the gym.. I understand they want to scam everyone out of the max money they can but nah I'm not paying for something that I might not be using for some time after a couple of months..that's the problem really that no1 offers any normal subscriptions only yearly contracts.

Yup, super affordable, open 24/7 and with top quality equipment.

OP, they often have 1 or 3 day free trials (without having to sign up afterward or such nonsense) worth giving it a try.

Most of the majors (Fitness First, Virgin Active, etc) do month-by-month flexible contracts if that's what you want.

I imagine councils go with what people are more likely to use, and fans of grunting around other sweaty men seem to enjoy doing it in paid indoor spaces.

Council's do indeed with most being outsourced to Everyone Active, who normally operate on a month to month model rather than a 12mth deal

Most private gyms I know have monthly memberships these days. No need to long contracts any more unless you want to join something like David Lloyd etc.

Looks nice, however the nearest one is 15miles away from me.

Cycle there, turn round, cycle home. Sorted.

If it's too far, just join a local gym on a yearly contract and actually go to it so you get your money's worth.

How does cycling 30 miles help somebody looking for free weights, a bench press and a pull up bar?

Odd.
