Hi all,

"Someone" have just found out their building is a B1/B2, and they want to use it for D1 (museum). They understand a change will need planning permission, but wanted to know:

1) Does it matter? Can they just leave it?
2) If they claim ignorance, what might happen??

(Not really from the point of view of being lazy, just so many more things to be done...can it be left or does it need sorting??)

Dont reallty want to ask the relevent planning department as we might get on their radar and dont want the hassle if they can help it.

Thanks in advance

In answer to 1 - Do not know.

2) - Ignorance is not a valid defence in law. You are presumed to know the relevant law and abide by it.

1) yes it does matter
2) you will get caught

b1/2 is an employment use, the council may reject to losing that.
