One of my colleagues at work drinks that Nescafé Azera stuff and keeps it in the fridge. It comes in a little tin and apparently it's about a fiver, so she's understandably peeved that it's disappeared.

We both suspect foul play and want to teach the coffee thief a lesson. At the moment I'm thinking a replacement tin booby-trapped somehow with glitter and a spring. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this, or any better ways to exact revenge?

Relatively simple to rig up and the potential fall-out from that prank is quite low;

Get the tin.

Get a suitable spring, maybe see if the tin size is comparable to one of those joke shop snake toys?

Then, place the spring in the jar and secure it under a piece of paper with a load of glitter on it, such that when the jar is opened, the spring shoots up and the glitter hits the perp. Glitter is a b1tch to clean up from your clothes so ought to mark them out as the perp!

Suggestions would also include something like a loo roll inner tube to help keep the spring pushed down inside the jar when the lid is put on and, you could hot glue the spring into the bottom of the jar so it doesn't cause injury, and use the loo roll tube in between two sheets of paper/card that are cut down to fit in.

ETA - Don't forget you can replace glitter with Frozen Sausages and/or Red Bull as necessary

Rig the lid up to the trigger an over and under shotgun primed with 32g cartridges.

Or tell her to stop being a fking weirdo and keep it in her desk drawer.

Who keeps freeze dried coffee in the fridge?

The lengths people go to get a sniff!
Just ask her if she wants to join you for a proper drink after work.

Don't do what an old boss of mine did. His Mrs made him spag bol or chilli or similar for lunch to take and zap at work. He noticed that it was being 'dipped' into overnight and the only culprit was the security guard so he did the laxative thing. The guy ended up in hospital due to severe dehydration. I'd just put a few tagnuts in there myself. I can post some if you like? I have a collection.

You are without doubt both kind and generous but the quality and size of my tagnuts is well known in this office due to my tight white trousers and penchant for going commando

Empty contents of posh coffee into empty jar of super cheap decaf. Then no one will want it.

why is she keeping it in the fridge- its not freshly ground coffee as such ?

I drink it and it lives in a cupboard.

We had butter thief at GMP, two of us decided to identify and warn, which we did, he carried on helping himself so we hatched a plan, which involved the butter, body parts and a short video to show the mscreant, that body part was sitched as it would render the butter inedible for the actual owner so was reduced to licking it, he never did nick the butter again.

To be fair if instant is the only option, then Azera is probably the best option, particularly the "Espresso" version.

Kenco Milicano Dark Roast isn't too bad either, as such things go.

I see Lavazza have brought out their version too, tho I haven't tried it.

You could follow the example of what my mother did.

She used to make him a flask of coffee to take to the races, the bottom section unscrewed and there was a glass bottle in there to put some milk.

She made the coffee as usual but when he came home he said it tasted funny, but drank it anyway.

By mistake, instead of instant coffee in the flask she had put Bisto.

It's regularly on offer, my OH tends to buy me a few which normally last until the next offer comes along.

Buy a Smart Price jar of coffee for 30p, dispose of the contents and put the posh coffee in the jar? Not revenge I know, but may help?

Replace it with Mellow Birds, the thief won't go near that jar ever again...
