ABC Pump Failure

Hello all as you see from the title my 2003 S600 has ABC trouble.I have dropped it off with friends of mine and the ABC pump is leaking fluid badly.Now my question is do I have to buy a new genuine pump or will a recon one be ok???? The price difference is massive. My other choice is to remove the leaking pump strip it and fit new seals in it. Your oppinions I a wait!
