got an email from BGE about this thing of beauty.

essentially a fire pit cross with a plancha grill. Seriously considering one, as building new house at the minute and need a decent fire pit.
Has anyone used them? My thoughts are that it will compliment the BGE i.e the low n slow in the BGE and fish, steak and sides on the OFYR
the down side is they make a BGE seem reasonable in their pricing

Never seen them before but they do look good, and I like the idea of a flat metal surface to sear a steak/fry an egg.
However, I'm a huge lover of fire, proper fire, but firepits are a pain in the ass, wherever you move the smoke follows you and despite thinking you can all sit around one and keep warm, it doesnt happen.
Im also questioning the finish on the ring, it is going to get very hot, direct flames, it may get rained on, open to the elements, I cant see it lasting as a well seasoned non stick surface without a LOT of work to protect and treat it.

Whilst it's a lovely object, can you imagine trying not to lose vegetables either in to the fire or off the side, or making sure fish didn't stick, or fat running off the sides?

I have one of these.. they exhibited at Chelsea this year and I was sold on it. Used it a few times - most recently Nov 5th. Great addition to the garden and really adds to the atmosphere. I've done the usual sort of griddle food - prawns, veg, etc. Also did a v. tasty leg of lamb. Use decent quality hardwood though. Can't really comment on any damage to the surface yet - it always seems to return to a decent cooking surface with some heat and oil.
