Question Re: clutch
Discussion
Hi from down under.
Just collected my car (2012 V8VS) from the AM dealer having had its' annual service (11,000kms). No problem there, except for the price ($1600 for an oil change).
They gave the car the thumbs up with no discernible issues.
Driving the car, I decided to give it a bit of "welly" (floor it) in first. Arrived home with that ignominious burnt clutch smell.
If the clutch is fully engaged and wide throttle openings are applied, I don't understand why the clutch should smell. There does not appear to be any slippage.
Any advice appreciated.

Hi Jkay,
I had the car serviced at the AM dealership here in Melbourne, now owned by Zagame.
I have noticed the smell once before, after spirited driving with the car in the lower ratios.
The car has the SS2 transmission and I always do the clutch learn, or rather the car does it for me.

Are you sure it is the clutch smelling? If you have driven it hard, then the brakes could well be the source of the smell and it is the same odour.
You would only get that smell from the clutch if it slips. When fully engaged, without slippage, there would be no excessive heat generated to burn the friction material.
