anyone have any thoughts or experiences with post office mortgages (i had no idea they did them) I am looking to get a part interest only and part repayment mortgage.
The post office calculator suggests they they can provide this, my bank (first direct) were a bit sniffy at the idea.

Maybe I need to chat to Sarnie!

The key is how you to intend to repay the interest only element........Happy to chat! smile

Why not just get the 1stD offset interest-only mortgage and overpay whatever you were planning to as the "repayment" element of your hybrid mortgage? I don't know what the rules are now but on my (offset) one I believe that there is no limit to the level of repayment - and even if there was, one could keep any surplus in an offset deposit account which would achieve the same end.
