Guys - I've seen what looks like a nice '09 E500 with 16k on the clock.
My experience with MBs is only with the early SL models so any advice regarding this E class will be appreciated.
Cheers

W211 or W212?

Coupe or 4 door?

I was interested in these a couple of months ago
Most of them I saw were 2 doors as well.
Really got tempted since they seem to come with a lot of toys.
Had to leave it since the boss said she needed 4 doors.

I drive a 2010 w212 4 door E500, which replaced a much loved w211 E500

I've had the w212 for about 18 months and I've done about 12k miles in that time.

Things that I like:

  • The engine - all the power that I want and feels quicker than the numbers suggest
  • Two cars for the price of one - waft around in comfort mode on the box and airmatic or spice things up by dropping the suspension and going sport on the box
  • Flappy paddles - good for quick downshifts and better than the old stick option on the w211
  • Rarity - in 18 months I have not seen another w212 E500 4 door on the road
Things I don't like:

  • The seats aren't as comfy as the w211 - and my w211 had nappa which was nice
  • The stereo - my w211 had Harman Kardon and that was another thing missing from the w212 along with the nappa... but I had to compromise based on what was out there
  • The panoramic roof got stuck open on a trip to France - this was an expensive fix, but it's the only trouble I've had (touch wood) to date
So, in summary, if you're after a rare and exclusive V8 with lots of get up and go and the ability to eat up motorway miles with ease, get an E500.

I'm aware that the coupe is based on the c-class chassis but I have driven w212 coupes (albiet e350d versions) and it's a comparable ride to my saloon.

I have an E500 coupe & I can't fault it, I have the BiTurbo version & love it I had the blind mess up which wasn't to bad but did mean a new one my local specialist sorted it.

Running cost wise it's not been a problem apart from services.
