Firstly, apologies for sounding a bit mumsnet.

Had a viewing of our property yesterday. The lady estate agent (probably mid-late 40's) turned up a bit early and came to the door. I have 2 kids (girl of 2 & boy of 4) and they were showing her toys and showing her they were both dressed at Spider-Man.
She sat in the lounge with us for about 10 minutes until the viewer came and was talking to both as they got nearly every single thing they could get their hands on to show her.
Viewer came and she asked the 4 year old to help show the people his bedroom and he was obviously happy to, as was I.
She asked if they wanted to view the garage which is detached but just at the side of the house and asked if I would like to show them as she didn't have a key. I did and was outside for about a minute and then came back in.
As I entered the lounge she had her phone out and took a picture of them and showed them it and I didn't think anything more about it. Until she left. Then I had an awful feeling that what she did was wrong.
It could be entirely innocent but couldn't shake the thought that it was inappropriate and when my wife returned from work she was not happy either. I tried to justify it to myself that anyone could take a picture of my kids when we are out etc but still this nagging thought was there.
This morning he agency rang and my wife spoke to them and decided to tell them what happened but stressed we didn't want to get anyone into trouble but due to today's society and with what you hear on the news, we had to mention it.
They are going to be looking into it and I really don't know what will happen.

She was very friendly and apparently had a 19 year old daughter (sorry, no pics) but I really don't know what to think.

I hope she doesn't lose her job, unless she really is the type to had a small brown bear hiding in her car poking its head through the window in which case burn her. I'm now worried she will get the sack and then I will awake one morning with red bull over the car and sausages in my lawn (I think that's most of the pistonheads cliches dealt with, shame she didn't have an MX5 I guess).

So was I right to express my concerns? Or, should I be provided with a link to mumsnet?

Either way, as a parent, I feel I have done he right thing, if anything, to avoid her getting into further trouble in the future and make her aware that this was not right if she ever did it again.

confused

At first read, you sound like you're paranoid and have acted totally and utterly over the top for no reason whatsoever.

What about after a second read?

Interested to know if you are a parent as well.

I'm inclined to agree, it sounds perfectly innocent to me.

Do you really think everyone who takes a picture of your kids is a paedo?

So you voluntarily left your kids with someone for a minute and now you've reported her as a paedo?

Hint in case it's not clear: my response is as stupid as yours was.

I am being paranoid, I agree. I'm sure it is totally innocent but that doesn't mean it is appropriate. However, society has caused this sort of thing to be questioned. I mean, you can't even take pictures at a school sports day unless everyone agrees.

Because of attitudes such as yours?

I feel sorry for the EA, on the face of what's been said she's going to be fking mortified when she finds out what you've done.

I'd have asked why she took the pics of my very young kids!! and to do it while your back was turned, the very nature of the way it was done is enough to arouse suspicion, I would want the pics deleted from her phone, she had no business. Why didn't she ask?

I know they are pictured on cctv and by the school etc.

I'm not saying she is a pedo either.

I'm saying it wasn't appropriate.

I also completely agree I shouldn't have left them with basically a stranger either but sometimes you do things when you feel comfortable.

I suppose this it what I expected from PH, I should have known better.

Because they were lovely kids and she enjoyed spending time with them?

Putting child safety issues to one side, personally I think it's a bit of an invasion of privacy that someone comes into your home and takes pic/s without permission.

Outside/off private property, I would say there's no claim to privacy.

However a obviously different matter if you were inviting friends/family round and they took pics in your home.

I wouldn't be happy if someone visited, in a professional capacity so to speak, and started filming.

School sportsdays are slightly different as there may be children participating who are under court protection hence the blanket ban in some schools. You, um, sound hysterical - and not in a humorous way but in an Airplane style queue-of-people-willing-to-give-you-slap-around-the-chops way.

At second read I still think your actions are bizarre and over the top.

I'm not a parent, when I am perhaps my view will change.

As it is, I see you've resorted to the usual "People haven't agreed with me so I should have known better than to ask for opinions" stance.

No, CCTV is one thing, getting your camera out to take a pic of his kids (while his back was turned) is not a normal practice, it's wrong. Her job is to sell houses, not take pics of kids!!

Agree with this. I don't know why anyone would do that in your home without asking. Its not like she was a family friend. Take more notice of your wife who was furious than anyone posting on here saying you're paranoid.

As I said, I don't have kids but the OP hasn't made it sound as if she hurriedly tried to hide the camera, quite the opposite if she was showing the kids surely?

When I was a young child I was offered a boiled sweet by a man on the plane.

They got talking to my parents and I grew up with them being "Auntie" and "Uncle" and his wife turned into one of my mothers best friends.

If it happened today chances are people would be reporting him and demanding he be thrown off the plane.

Of course dangers exist, but I can't help but think it's all a bit sad really.

Yet she was trusted enough to look after them...

I've helped a couple of lost kids by picking them up so they could see their parents. I hope I never have to help your kids if this is how I might be repaid.
