What's with David Lloyd?

ALWAYS gym equipment out of order, a heat room or steam room not working, slow indifferent café service & a lounge area echoing with the shrieking of kids. Today there is NO HOT WATER for pities sake. Until recently indifference & no action from managers should you have cause to complain, now replaced with touch-pad where you can register complaints & compliments, the former getting cliché head office standardised action-less responses. NEVER offers of money back to compensate or even a free coffee!
All this for a membership fee of around £600.
Tried to find out who is the UK head honcho of this rip-off organisation but just get referred back to my local club.
Am I alone with these experiences?
Is it worth my seeking another gym/health club?

I pay 900+ and I only use the gym, no swimming, no classes nothing.
It is the location that is super convenient for me it enables me to go to the Gym straight after work for 30mins.
By yeah it really is a rip off in every way, I see a lot of young people in there though are they paying the same as me? how on earth do they afford it?

Presumably you mean £900 a year? So £75 a month? That's the same as ten years ago, maybe something's got to give? I.e. Less staff, maintenance, training etc etc. It is the location that is super convenient for me it enables me to go to the Gym straight after work for 30mins.

Just to add another view point, I've been a member for over 20 years and pay in excess of £4,000. I use a number of different clubs across the country and have to say I've only ever had the odd complaint, which have always been dealt with promptly.

Op , you're not at York club by any chance are you , at least 3 sinks out of order , toilets out of order , cafe a bit sloppy , jacuzzi down yesterday , not for the first time. Also they have bt sport and sky sports and have gone to the trouble of installing a new big screen but never show any football. Also the website no longer works on an iPad.

Christ on a bike, for £350 a month, I'd want Jessica Ennis rubbing me down after every session

Been at the Cheadle club (South Manchester) for 13 years, generally very happy and a well run place. The General Manager is very approachable and often trains in the gym, he once walked over and asked me and my training partner if we were happy with the refurb and if we had any suggestions for improvements

Gym's all over the country. Usually in old warehouse style buildings with masses of modern equipment and loads of free weights.
They also have punch bags, boxing & MMA rings and do an endless list of classes.
Never any steam rooms, saunas or pools but for use of every gym in the country with all of the above you can't argue for £9.99 a month with no rolling contract.

I had to leave a Total Fitness gym as people were just leaving weights everywhere and you could never find anything. The staff didn't do anything about it.
It's a buyers market in my opinion so I'd be out of there and finding a new sensibly priced gym.
I'm a member of JD Gyms - £10.99 a month.
I can only speak for my local club but generally speaking aside an incident with the steam room last year, they have always been quick to sort issues and the equipment is decent.
I think it's good value as there's nowhere which has facilities like it nearby without travelling a further 20 minutes. however, if you are local to some of the other big ones, I do think some would probably be better purely for no kids etc
We have our own gym but I still go as I do think some of the kit is good and the pool facilities are decent
