Seeking partners for custom/classic car workshop
Discussion
I have setup a large workshop for custom and classic car projects for which I am looking for additional partners to work on projects and help build the business. The workshop is a good space (4,500 square feet) and is already equipped with a ramp, mig/tig welder, plasma cutter, tube bender, 3d scanner and we just recently added a large 3 axis CNC mill for making custom parts.
This could start as a part-time opportunity working around an existing job (evenings/weekends) with a view to developing into a full-time partnership, or could be an opportunity for somebody who wants to start their own business within the financial support of an existing business. I am open to ideas to work with the right partners.
We already have a fabricator/welder and mechatronics specialist and are looking for additional partners who can cover mechanical work, bodyshop, and carbon fibre composite work.
We will be catering for most aspects of custom/performance car builds including custom tube chassis/suspension work, engine development/conversions, body fabrication work (including composites), custom exhaust systems and other general fabrication work. We will also be doing classic car restoration work.
We are based in Hungerford (2 mins off M4 J14) and have some ambitious plans for the future so it would be good to hear from anybody with relevant experience in any of the areas above who may be interested in discussing further. I am open to ideas about how this could work.
Happy to hear your ideas on this thread or PM me for a more specific conversation.
I think you would get more response if you asked it as a question rather than spamming the forum.
Something Like:
I've got the following set up............ blah blah - how do I go about getting someone interested, what will they want to see and what should I ask of them to ensure the business gets a useful addition, rather than a parasite that will have a negative effect on the business?
Now essentially it pans out to be the same thing, but your approach is more likely to get the ire of some in the forum. Incidentally, this sounds like a good idea on the cross selling front, but getting the right balance will be tricky.

Not sure how offering somebody an opportunity for a start in a relevant business could be considered spamming?Something Like:

Thought this would be a good place to socialise the opportunity for genuine expressions of interest. If it isn't I am obviously in the wrong place.

FWIW, I don't see OP's post as spamming at all, and I'm surprised that you do.Perfectly reasonable request and quite an interesting proposition for someone I'm sure.
Now I'm not prone to calling people out on forums, I'm sure a quick trawl (or troll for that matter) through my previous posts will show that, but I'll call it as I see it, admittedly it is not as blatant as the spamming (cause it is at least quite interesting) we have had on the forums of late.
For instance when I am seeking partners for my car & Kitchen related affliate marketing scheme (I'm joking btw) I'm going to be welcomed with open arms on the pistonheads forums, and I'll not be subject to the roasting a recent Kitchen related website received in General Gassing.
It could go something like this:
............I've a website up and ready where I need additional partners to work on projects and help build the business. The website has a good CMS and the payment system is customisable.
This could start as a part-time opportunity working around an existing job (evenings/weekends) with a view to developing into a full-time partnership, or could be an opportunity for somebody who wants to start their own business within the financial support of an existing business. I am open to ideas to work with the right partners.
We already have a designer, an owner, a buyer, a graphic artist and are looking for additional partners who can source additional products to sell and create marketing plans to get lots of sales.
We will be catering for the lowest common denominator that sells our car related products well, so faceache.com and eBay.co.uk and those delightful folks on the business forum of pistonheads.com. We will also look at mumsnet..............................

Change the above a little more and can you honestly say you'd be happy to see similar here in every other post? Or if members get told off for starting a post to their weblinks to their own cars that are for sale, how this is any different? It's spamming, interesting and perhaps pretty relevant spam, but spammy none the less.

I think you have missed the point peoplepal. Unlike the references you have made, I am not trying to flog anything. I am offering somebody an opportunity to fulfil an ambition of being a key stakeholder in a business highly relevant to this forum and the interests of its members. For instance when I am seeking partners for my car & Kitchen related affliate marketing scheme (I'm joking btw) I'm going to be welcomed with open arms on the pistonheads forums, and I'll not be subject to the roasting a recent Kitchen related website received in General Gassing.

Frankly, I wish I could of found somebody to offer me an opportunity when I was getting started. I am now in position to enable other suitably enthusiastic and motivated partners to become part of an interesting business doing what they enjoy.
I accept that my post may not appeal to everyone, but I am not trying to appeal to everyone. I am looking for partners with some imagination and drive as that is what it takes to be successful and I feel any such individuals will recognise the intent of my post.

The OP isn't trying to sell anything, unless my reading skills are letting me down?
It's relevant to the Jobs & Employment section, the Classics section and the Business section.
Can't see a problem at all. Good luck OP!
Thanks ReaderScars. I did think about the Jobs & Employment section, but as I am looking for business partners as opposed to employees it didn't seem the right place for a discussion. It's relevant to the Jobs & Employment section, the Classics section and the Business section.

I thought that by posting in the business section it might stimulate discussion about the opportunity. I am looking to be more innovative about how I structure and develop the business and and was hoping I might capture the imagination of interested parties to see what this opportunity could look like and where it could go.
For example, I am interested in exploring the idea of building some form of community powered/crowd sourced type business hence why I have reached out in the first instance through this channel. Maybe my approach is a little too unconventional, but you don't achieve anything extraodinary by being ordinary ;-)
Morning,
Do you have any idea of the market you are trying to attract? With this I mean do you plan on specialising in a certain car brand/model and what type of customisation do you plan on carrying out?
Sounds like a good opportunity for someone. Personally I'm a mechanic in the forces so would have to give a years notice but I'm hanging on another 6 months on top. I've also checked out the local house prices which may have a negative effect on you attracting someone in a traditionally low paid industry.
